Did the Queen ever drive herself?
Had a date today and we came to talk about each other interests and the girl kindly recalled having seen a documentary about the Queens car, a Bentley.
Now I wonder if her Majesty ever put her foot on an accelerator herself? Is she one of us or does she leave such minor tasks as navigating a horseless carriage, as it befits her status, to the lesser souls?

Yes she does. Many pics of her driving her Range Rover. Clearly for official occasions she has someone else drive her. Charles also drives his Aston a fair bit.

IIRC she drove an ambulance durring the war
(edit
The Queen learned to drive at the age of 19 at a training centre near Aldershot while serving as a member of the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
As part of the royal prerogative The Queen is not implicated in the Road Traffic Act or Motor Vehicle Driving Licence Regulations, and therefore does not require a driving licence; other members of the Royal Family are obliged to pass the test and hold valid licences.
)
So she can drive, but hasn't got a license

There are a few cars in the motoring museum at Sandringham that also have pictures of the queen at the wheel.
She was quite found of her old 1963 Rover 3 litre.
At the museum they have Di's old blue MGB but it says owned and driven by Prince Charles, no mention of Diana.
Cheers
