My brother has just got his doctorate
in medicine. He is the brains of the family, and after 7 years of study at University, he finally made it ! He is quite relieved.
So what would be the first thing you would do once you got your doctorate knowing you have a nice high paid job ?
Car hunting of course. Floyd is currently sporting my brothers old chariot so he is in the market for some flash. So far he has taken a Cooper S out. Next stop, Golf GTI.

Good on your bro. Going into my final year of medicine myself so I know the stress he will have experienced over the last few years! A bit harsh to call him a "****" i think. With the commitment he will have put into his course it is understandable that he will be rather excited to have graduated.

Some titles you are born with and some you have to work for. Curiously, I think, the ones who had to do nothing for them are held in higher regard.

Funny thing is he has'nt got a doctorate he has a degree but his title is doctor. To get a doctorate you need to do a PhD.
Don't even start the Dr/Mr thing once you get futher on in your career.

Please don't get me wrong with my post, ur Bro worked hard...and he got a result, I am not against any of that...I say "good on him"........I am however a bit suspicious of the bollix titles this country has to bestow on citizens becos they did xyz..........its over the top imo. Just like red brick unis...full of alot of bull**** which is why "Britain rules absolutely ***** all in the world arena....'scuse my French...."
Tone Blair...come and prove me wrong....get ur own house in order......nod nod wink wink....

When my sister became a doctor (medical), she bought a second hand peugeot 206cc.......and a house. She's currently doing her GP training, which is a further 3 years of buggering about.

I did not go to a red brick uni, as I simply was not clever enough, but respect the people who do. Most of them will not look down on you because you never went to a R.B.U so why the hate?

There are people who like to try and ram their qualifications down the throat of anyone willing to listen. I have encountered some over the years who seem completely obsessed about them being Doctors / professors whatever, and look down on anyone who isn't. Generally that's fine, as everyone else who isn't better qualified (and most who are, too), wouldn't want anything to do with them anyway.
However, that's not to say your bro fits into that category, and there is certainly nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate his success and achievement. The simple answer to "what car" depends on "what good salary?", "what housing situation?", leading to "what disposable income?". However, if Golf GTi and Coooper S are options, obviousl other contenders include Focus ST and Astra VXR, plus there's a sligthly ugly 2.5 Turbo saloon called a "WRX" that I think is similar money that you may have heard of . . . this is scoobynet after all
