Best FWD handling test car as told by Evo
The 205 was second choice into the last 6 (from 15)after the Honda Integra which they deemed the winner.
Buy Evo a good read this month.
My view is the Honda a bit of a rev machine to get best out of it.What do you guys think.
New Golf looks a good car.
Good old 205 still hanging in there.

Integra is the 'Best' Car I have owned, I now have a DC5 which is the newer shape and it is a better all round package than the old one. But the old DC2 was and awesome car, no scooby or Evo could match it for sheer drving fun/pleasure for me.
When I ought mine I had just sold my 1yr old EVO6 and I had much more fun in the Integra, every drive was entertaining and involving (more than I could say about my EVO), I then sold my Integra and bought a STiV Type RA V-Ltd as I craved more power. Let's just say I sold that within 2 months and bought a DC5, which now pushes out 262bhp and is so involving to drive.
I was going to sell mine but have decided to keep it. I have had it for over 18 months which is the longest I have keep any car.

Integra one of the best handling cars period, and easlily the best front drive car I have ever driven. Ford Racing Puma was very close, but not quite as good as the honda.

I used to have a DC2 and now have a Focus RS which I prefer.
DC2 handled well obviously, but the Focus seems to have more of a go kart feel about it, which I like (and cant explain).
Driving position is totally different (laying down in the DC2 and sitting high up in the Focus) in fact in general they are quite different cars.
Honda felt lighter but I prefer turbo power to a VTEC if I'm honest.

Nisr- Clio ***** came 3rd overall, a bit surprised really considering it could do no wrong with EVO and won just about every group test they put it in, 306 Rallye didn't make the final cut of 6, they did comment that there particular examples dampers had seen better days tho which prob didn't help it. Top 6 in order were ITR, Clio Trophy, Clio *****, 205 1.9, Cooper S works, New Golf GTi. Focus RS didn't make the cut either, seems they had another "bad un".
Just sold my DC2 last week so a bit gutted really as its bringing back the great memories of a fantastic car...hope a DC5 coming along soon may help

I so regret selling my DC2, one of the best cars I have ever owned......I even felt it was more special than the S2000 I previously owned..........
Oh well one day I'll get away from the oil burners........although at 60+ mpg thats going to be hard to justify

The new Astra Sport Hatch SRi actually handles really really well.
My oil burning one fodders my friends 241bhp Classic scooby rather nicely!
Mind you, with the DTUK tuning box it is now 197bhp and 302LB/FT and still does 44mpg

What about Corrado's, no mention? i used to own one and it handled amazingly, i own a williams now but although the ***** feels like a go kart the corrado seemed less likely to come unstuck on the limit whereas the ***** could bite ya!

<smug> thats my Integra that is </smug>
The Corrado gets a good mention but its just not quite as focussed as others, thats not to mark it down per se just that its not what they were looking at in this instance. Anyone that owns a car in that test has a right to be pleased imo.

[QUOTE=The Chief]
Well, I had Toda A2 cams, Toda Race Manifold, Toda Catless exhaust, GruppeM Induction, and Kpro ECU. I also spend another few £k on handling etc.. I could have gone further and had the Toda stoker kit fitted but I thought this was the maxium I would like/want from a FWD car. THe power to weight ratio is quite good now..

I think the aim of the test was the feeling the car gave as you drove it over the actual ability of the car,and the satisfaction it gave , hence some of the modern stuff not on the list, but probably equal in ability or better.
Thats my view of the test anyway.

Used to own an ITR back in 2002 & sold it for an JDM STi V5 ... ITR was awesome & the wife was gutted when it sold. The VTEC howl is something that you'll never forget when you hear it, pure racecar. Used to frighten the bejesus out of old codgers by driving past them at full tilt! You can now pick them up for a song ...
