Nice car for what it is, i owned one for about 2 months, enjoyed it but it wanted more.
I changed the small spoiler for a larger one. Taking the look away.

Not quite Evo 7s. Evo 260 has been de-tuned but is still phenominally quick. Its just how can you have an evo with subdued styling? WTF
Othe than the 5 speed its all evo 8 and to be fair its at a great entry level price and can be uprated slightly most cost effectively because of its price point.
Hope you recall the thread about boosting an evo to 400BHP.

I heard the engine is quite different to the other evo's. The obvious differences are ecu, exhaust etc, but aparently the cams and engine internals all differ from the 280bhp and above evo's. Anyone know if this is true ?

The 260 is an official EU released car from Mitsubishi, therefore has to meet EU emissions, hence 2 cats, fog light, etc, whereas the FQs are imported by Colt cars UK,..the 260 has the 5speed gearbox from the 7,the engine SAYC,etc are exactly the same as the standard 8,the 260 was released to clear the factory of all the panels shells etc from the 8 as Mitsi was then building the 8MR which as im sure you all know has a different roof, bilstein suspension, and a 9500rpm revving engine 500rpm up on the normal eight, which gives you the extra horses in the FQ300 which replaced the 280hp GSR,the FQ320 which replaced the FQ300 and the FQ340 which replaced the FQ330 although all the MR FQs hp figures are around 5% under their true output.
The 260 can be easily modified to these figures as the extra cat takes the hp figure down from 280 to 260...the only other main difference is a rev limiter of 5000rpm in first gear...which takes the 0-60 up to 5.2...instead of 4.9 of the FQ300....right down to 4.2 for the new FQ360...or even 3.5 for the FQ400....mind you it doesnt take a fortune to get a 260 to 400/400.
