Ah, the memories.
I would deffo have another Focus RS. One of the best car's I've ever owned. If I wouldn't lose an arm and a leg selling my scoob (if I could sell it) I'd seriously think about having yours.
Is it Bluefin'd ??

PS the ST is a quicker all round car, even though the RS may be rarer id rather have the better of the packages

I did a track day in my FRS the other week and thought the car was ace
The car gets negative press for torque steer etc (which I must admit I've only noticed a couple of times....just hold on tighter) but I think they are top motors.
Good luck with the sale.
And just to add, the ST does nothing for me at all...not really sure why...more mass produced, fatter, common (where I live). Each to their own

With you there matey, I love em.
Ditto,
with so much investment in my classic, it would be financial suicide to sell.

I should also add that the thing that keeps the RS badge in peoples mind is the cosworth badge that went with it.
Looking back at the early escort mk2's with the RS2000 cars, yes you would want one of those, but would you want a fiesta rs turbo? hmmmm the car that couldnt compete in the market because of something called a 205 1.9 GTi? or the Escort RS, the only one worth having was a series 1.
The RS badge has had its good and bad cars, the focus.... praised before it came out, critisied afterwards, and why? it was more at home on autobahns than country roads with bumps, it was based on a model 4 years older, it was flawed but people still bought them, then those not so "rs" orientated flogged em because they were too harsh, too much torque steer and too skippy over rough road surfaces.
The ST has resolved alot of the problems the RS had hence its a better car to boot, but if your really after a proper RS, back to a MK2 escort again

But everyday driving isn't the Ring
Reading Evo mag again they were talkign to Jag who said one of the only good things about testing on the ring was it gives the car a thorough going over conditions wise, but was not the place to tune the handling etc as it's not indicitive of a real road.
better 0-60 and 0-100 for me on the roads I'd drive is of more interest then a ring time.
That said, if you're buying it to track

Ahh!!! The ring...........Lets ask how many of the 30 million car owners in the uk have been to the "ring" and how many drive on british roads? The Focus RS is far and away the better car. Who wants to drive around in a volvo engined ford? I had an St up my **** not long after they were released, He obviously didn't understand just how quick Evo's go around roundabouts! and what a difference over 300 bhp makes to the car in front!!! Still he could always buy a caravan and tow it just like normal volvo owners...

The RS isnt the better car, its not as easy to live with, it skitters on our roads, its not as firmly planted on the A/B roads because its too harsh, it suffers terminal torque steer and it was based on a car 4 years older rather than the latest revision.
Just because it had an RS badge doesnt mean its better than fords ST, if anything on everyday driving as its put because most people wont be going to the ring in one, the ST is quicker in everyday situations, damn even on the track the ST is quicker than the RS, does that not tell you something? heavier, slightly more power though the p2w is probably similar, and yes, its got a volvo engine, so what?
The RS may look the part but in practice it falls short, which is a shame because if they would have released it back in 99 it may have been a class leader

Exactly my point matey! How many Evo's to Scoobs do you see on the roads these days? Plus how many yellow scoobs do you see...I like to be different.

I was referring to the bland/boring bit
But looking good doesnt mean that things are good Dont get me wrong, the RS is a nice car, it just should have been better than what it was, it was too flawed and a flawed car no matter how quick it can do 1/4 mile times or 0-100 can be whooped on a normal road by a lesser car, ie the ST which is also a nicer car to drive (less tiring etc)
You could compare it to a woman, you want a good looking boring woman or a real dirty one

Problem with the ST is the owners have all adopted the Clarkson comment. ASBO. I went to the RS national day this year almost all had a fake ASBO certificate or chrome letters on the boot, confirms it's a chav car. Also 90% of them are in orange.

I remember them saying it was only going to be available in Orange and Blue.
But i've seen the White, Red, Black, Silver and Grey, so pretty much every Ford Shade, i personally like the red with the white stripes down the side.
And i'm byased and way as i've brought the competator, the RenaultSport 225 Megane, pick it up tomorrow night

Best one was getting my R19 16v serviced back in 95, got home and 1 hr later drove off the drive to see a puddle of oil.... oh they forgot to tighten the sump plug up... gave me some bull about it being the washer, got under the car and felt the sump plug was loose.... welcome to renault

On a back camber ridden road, the RS could be seen as `Interesting` when overtaking in 3rd gear. Overtake in 4th gear and use the Torque of the engine, and it's didn't Torque steer at all.
On a flat road, the RS will corner harder than the ST. It will corner harder than an Impreza (as said by Clarkson, which you trust with the Torque steer comments) and as I own a 05 STI with the Prodrive spring kit and 18" alloys, I'm in a good position to know.
Yes the Impreza will out traction the RS, but the RS will out grip the Impreza. The Focus RS Chassis is very good, in fact it's excellent.
We have had this argument on here before about the RS being cr@p compare to any Scoob. Yet, someone posted a video showing an RS wasting many Impreza's on a track, in the wet. How could that be possible
The RS is a very nice, very fast, capable car, that yes, has a slight flaw ie Torque steer on certain roads, but just cos it ain't a Scoob it shouldn't be written off as a cr@p car. After all an Evo is faster than than the Impreza.
Given a choice of an RS or an ST. It'd be the RS for me every time.
All we need now is Ford to build a 4wd Focus RS. I'd be one of the first on the list to order one.
