honda integra dc5 v scoob sti
just been looking at these hondas, fantastic looking and on paper fairly quick. Having had a couple of different kind of sti's and evos would the performance and handelling be boring compared to the scoob or evo?
any comments would be appreciated.

I drive a dc-2 and boring is not the word. They do not have much torque but they rev to 9000rpm and sound awesome. Performance is similar to a UK scoob but a very different drive.
dc-5 has more power than a dc-2 but is heavier so about the same if not slower.
They handle very well, well balanced, good suspension and anti-roll bars come as standard.

I'm not quite sure about your comments worrying about a DC5 being boring, there is nothing more boring to drive than a 4 wheel drive 4 door saloon (apart from a rep mobile)
I have a DC5 tuned ot about 260bhp (all N/A) and the sound, handling and sheer drivability are all top notch, would I go back to an Sti or EVO? Probably not, plus I've had the DC5 for 2 years nearly which is the longest I have ever kept a car.
For sheer outright straight line performance they are not as quick as an Sti or EVO but for driver enjoyment it gives me 10/10

I could be in the market for a track day car next year. What have you done to your engine to get it up to 260bhp? That's 130bhp/litre which beats every other NA road car. Is it too noisy or peaky for road use?
Cheers
Edited to say I agree with your comments vis a vis 4wd....zzzzzzz

Surely a DC5 running 260bhp would keep with a 300bhp STi PPP - if you take into consideration tranny losses and all that and power to weight.
Meant to be really sharp around a track.

Is it kind of like a 1980s turbo to drive or does it still retain the smoothe changeover from one cam to the other that is now the norm with modern VTEC engines? Really interested in this...thanks for the replies.
The Mods and Kpro give it much more power in the mid range and smooths out the torque curve, the V-Tec kick in is not as pronounced, I perfer it that way as I like power from instand trottle press, rather than wait (like turbos), plus I find the N/A car is much earier ot balance on the throttle nad feeding in power is quite a lot of fun.

Service costs are not too bad but labour varies from dealer to dealer.

I had a supercharger on the S (although didnt run it) and hundreds of US guys have gone FI. The Honda VTEC's respond very well to supercharging.

CyberEvo - 260bhp for those mods sounds a bit too generous...glad you enjoy the car though...

Imi, you're missing the point
Its like saying why by a scoob and mod it when you can buy a Skyline.
A lot of us like to tinker. There's no harm in adding FI to Honda's. Its an easy way to bolt on another 100 bhp and can only cost about £3k.

Ok, Ok, the rev limiter cuts in at 8700 rpm, but that is close enough to 9000 for pub talk....
