Great car. I've owned a 16v, a G60 and a VR6 Corrado. Had the G60 and VR6 at the same time for a while. G60 is very underrated and a blast to drive. Bit more of a head bangers car compared to the VR6 and feels nippier due to the lighter 1.8 engine compared with the 2.9 V6.
I'm long since gone from the Corrado scene but a lot of old mates are still involved so drop by http://the-corrado.net/ and ask on there.
Mechanically there isn't anything specific you wouldn't check on every other car bar the 'charger which does require a service costing <> £400 last I knew. Roughly 70-80K miles between charger services and if you've no evidence of it being done assume it hasn't been.
Check everything works! Door handles are prone to breaking and sunroof mechs go scratching the metal roof. Rear spoiler can fail, head lamp switch breaks due to over heating. Wipers are useless over 70mph but you can fit Lupo wipers which solve this. All these faults are design faults and don't indicate a fault or problem as such.

i owned a 1990 16v corrado many years ago, really was one of my best cars.just about the best car vw made in the 90's and mayby ever.my mate owned a g60 for a while,it never gave problems but it did have a modified jabasport supercharger rebuild before he bought it.i think jabasport are still the experts with these and rebuids parts etc are still available.it was one of the nicest sounding cars i ever heard with its sebring exhaust and supercharger

Isn't the G60 a bit ... pause for breath ... slow! In it's day it was OK however today is probably a bit dated? Not trolling so sorry if offence caused. I'll track down the 0-60 time if I can.
Reason that I say this is I always fancied a Golf Rallye. Awesome car in it's day (still looks good IMHO) however today it's just slow ...

An uprated charger with pulley will get you into the mid 7 secs to 60 if the rest of the car is healthy that is. At least it will in a MKII. Costs hardly any more to have it uprated than just a straight rebuild. I'd go for it they really are great cars although I reckon any car that hasn't had suspension done recently is going to need all that changing as well.
