Default Ferrari 599

Saw one of these in silver driving back from Bristol on Sunday (was in Cornwall by this time, A30) and my bottom jaw nearly fell off!

Stunning, stunning car.

Might be a great car but it's not a pretty Ferrari.

Good to have you back Matteboy, knew you couldn't stay away 3 months not posting under that username is pretty good going though.

It was the test in the Evo that did it.
Thought it was very "appropriate" for here!

Assume the usual names have been up to all their tricks again?!

Wouldnt normally disagree with you but i think its stunning, proper modern design, moving the super car onto a different level...Some fantastic details on it, and as a whole its just stunning..

But then i also love the look of the Scaligetti (sp)

Not sure i would want to own one, i doubt i could stand parking it anywhere other than inside a locked garage!!

The 599 has a mildly de-tuned Enzo engine and is stupidly quick.
The 612 is more of a GT (but still very very quick).

I prefer the 599 and blatting along the A30 on Bodmin Moor, it sounded amazing - Yes I AM the sort of sad gimp that lowers my window to hear the noise of a tasty engine!

No question, its an amazing car, but I would have to disagree and say that it is too "contrived retro" in the styling department for my tastes.

Does the 612 have the same engine as the 599?

Nope but I can't remember the details!

Errmmm - The 612 has more or less the same Tipo133E V12 engine as the 575 with 5.7L and 533bhp.

The 599 has the 6.0L Tipo133F V12 engine with 612bhp which is very similar to the Tipo140 engine used in the Enzo.

Mmmkay?!

Had a 5 star rating this week in Auto Car after they did a road test in it. Achieved a 0-100mph time of 7.4 secs

They reckon it has created a new class of car - the Hyper GT.
