If you had 12k to spend
As above im looking to change mu uk turbo beginning of next year. Its got about 260bhp and feels very quick.
Im looking to spend 12k. The choices are
1. Evo 7
2. Focus Rs
3. bmw 330ci
4. Back to a bugeye sti prodrive, which ive had before.
5. Save a couple of quid more and get a dc5 integra.
What so you think?? Any other suggestions would be great
Regards Dan

330ci-Boring but competent. However it does drive well and if you really hustle it you can have fun. Problem is no LSD which means your often spinning away power uselessly and it doesn't feel hooked up.
If I had 12K to spend then 8-9K of it would go on a top notch E34 M5 with 3 left over for running costs. Or maybe 7 on a left hook RS2, 2 grand on modifications and 3 left over to run it. The M5 is a joy to drive and a mildly modified RS2 will make your Impreza feel dog slow and introduce you to rock solid build quality.

12k to spend
Sorry to bother you. Out of interest how do you find the comparison between the honda and your scoob, performance wise? Also do you think i would get a honda for that money?

I'd say the bugeye sti prodrive style but as you've had one before something different would be better.
Evo 7 would be my choice. I've always wanted one, I prefer the look over any other Evo before and after.

EVO 7 gets my vote and agree with above - now the best looking of the bunch IMO and screwed together well.
You could get a tidy E36M3 Evo or a E36 Evo convertible comfortably for that money and have change, or better still if you could find another 3K a 70-80K mileage E46M3.
If you are happy with scoobs in terms of build, comfort and lary image, I don't think you could do much better than put your 12K into another scoob, and at a push you should be able to a blob eye and even a STI for that money.
Or a leon Cupra R but not my cup of tea. Or a Golf R32 or a really nice V6 4 motion golf with plenty of change left over. Drove one of these a while back and loved it.
If you don't need 4 doors or 4 seats then lots of really exciting options open to you.
BMW330 is nice (had one), but it is a little boring and very refined and a huge departure from a scoob and think you would get bored quickly.

The Honda is a lovely place to be compared to the old scooby and probably better than the New age or the Evo (though I dont have much experience of them).
Revving to 8,500 is an experience, it just seems to go and go.
You will easily get one for £12k. They start at just under £10k for previously owned private sale "Y" plate. Our "52" was £13.5k in the summer from a reputable importer, with only 23k miles.

Im in a similar position....... had a STI Type R a few years back (320Bhp so was quite rapid) I currently drive a Civic Type R.
I can't make my mind up what I would like to get either, keep thinking of a JDM STI blobeye, but then wouldn't mind something a bit more comfortable i.e. BMW but then I keep thinking will I get bored too quickly lol.
I also thought about the DC5 but for the same money you could get a JDM STI which will give you that "kick" where as the Honda’s power is more progressive.
I don't do that many miles, about 12 mile round trip to work, so i'm not too worried if it's no the most quietest car in the world on the road, depends what/how you drive?

Sod the 330,: Too cramped, don't handle properly, and overpriced: A better option is a E39 530 manual with all toys for £9K then add £2K for fresh bushes and a set of bilstein shocks...as they, like most 3 series; are past their prime after 4 to 5 years.

Or you could be different and get a '88 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport. I think you should be able to get it on classic insurance.

The 911 carerra sport just doesn't drive like a modern car. A 964 does but at 12K I reckon you'd just be buying your way into a world of expenditure.
Sensible, modern 911 ownership starts at about 20K for a manual 996 C2 IMO.

Got to be a turbo, I drove the N/A stuff, CTR, Clio 182 and bought a Saab 9-3 Aero to be respectable, remapped to 250 bhp and 280 lbs ft, I find the N/A rev thing tedious and they never feel that quick but make nice noises (well the CTR did but felt like diet bhp !), not sure how much quicker mine is than a CTR but it feels much more dramatic and you dont need to drop to first to overtake, the Clio 182 was just rubbish unless you had 5000 plus on the rev counter.

Having done wales and back in a brand new 93 aero today, I agree its a nice car, and makes light work of motorway miles. But i'd get the DC5 if it were me.
