A friends Audi A2 (Petrol) has suddenly started to lose or use oil excessively.

After the last service the oil light came on after about 600 miles and since then after refilling it has happened again twice.

There is no blue smoke from the exhaust or any leaks after standing.

Anyone know where the oil can be going to. It just seems to be disappearing!!

I had a Fiat Coupe Turbo that drank it, the turbo was knackered and it turned out the rest of the engine as well, I suspect its wear issues, rings probably, get him to take the oil filler cap of whilst its running and see what comes out, a bit of oil haze/hot air is normal but if its pulsing a fair amount of pressure then that looks like a piston ring type issue, next step would be a compression test, you can get a gauge off Ebay for about 30 quid, you remove the plugs and the fuse for the injection system then crank it over with the gauge fitted into the plug hole and make a note of the readings, you need to find what it should be in PSI.

Might be breather system related also.

A2 owners club - they will be able to advise as they have several audi technicians on there

Warranty ran out 3 months ago.

Sod Law eh!!
