Default Saxo 1.1 - Non Interference engine?

As above really. Is it a non interference engine? Its an S plate if that helps.

I have one that I can get my hands on for nowt so was wondering what the damage may be after the cambelt has snapped.

Need to add that the engine spins over freely on the starter motor.

Cheers,

Wayne.

Hi Wayne

Have repaired many of these and the results have varied from 2 bent exhaust valves to all eight having hit, never had one that had not touched and never had one that had damaged a piston enough to warrant changing it.
Hope this helps
Dave

I'd suggest it may be worth a look for nowt or possibly you could just fling it on ebay as is. Apparently, you'd be on to a winner either way.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have the car and will source and fit a belt next week. I would have thought that if the engine turns over freely without noise that there should not be any bent valves. Also, the previous owner has said that the engine was idleing when the belt went and the engine just cut out.

Fingers crossed.

Wayne.

the engine idling so assuming no damage is a myth, also engine turning over wont mean all is well , throw a belt on and see,
