Honda Integra Type R
#2
Hi Richie,
How are thing's??
I had a 1998 UK spec ITR before my Scoob. Completely different experience to the Impreza.
Good points:
Wicked engine- noise/revs/vtec are fantastic, especially if you like revs.
Handling- better than my Scoob, front end feel is the best I have ever experienced. All very controlable, next to no understeer even in the wet.
Reliabilty- Bullet proof, when I had mine I was told by a Honda dealer there had never beed an engine warranty claim for one of these things.
Bad points:
Expensive to insure- my insurance went down when I changed to the Scoob!
Lack of low down torque- lots of down changing to overtake. Fun if you are on a mission but thats not always the case.
fuel consumption- not great, can't remember mpg but 200 miles to a tank (does have a small tank right enough).
Fairly drab interior- Other than the red Recaro's and a bit of fake carbon fibre it was well dull, even for a Jap car!
Sorry to go on but to sum up these things are **** hot
I only sold mine because it did't have a height adjustable drivers seat - "petite" wife couldn't drive it so it sat doing nothing while I was away at work. I tried to get a height adjustable seat sub frame for it but had no joy. If it did have an adjustable seat I think I would have still had it
Let me know how you get on.
Chris

I havent really. Im pretty convinced I want a GT4 to be honest Chris, but certainly keeping my options open.
Im throwing up to £3k at the right one and I can land a GT4 for £2500 direct from Japan so Im tempted.

I had a '99 Integra - great car - 9,000 rpm limiter - nice touring car type whine off the gearbox. Did either 10 or 40 mpg.
They handle like a scalextric car - apparently 63% weight distribution to the front?
But the ride is too hard - superb damping but the springs are way too much for road use.
I was always getting the back end out unexpectidely until I sussed it - it's a car you really have to drive.
I wouldn't want to do lots of miles / commute in one (which is why I sold it).
But as you say you have revs / powerband fun from the bike so you don't need an Integra - a big engined saloon car with toys is what you want.
