Vectra C 1.9CDTI Dual Mass Flywheel Gone...How much... £1200 !!!!!
Just had a quote for the wifes Vectra 1.9 CDTI 55 reg for a new clutch and dual mass flywheel......1200 notes..
The car is 1 month out of warranty and only done 30,000 miles.
Phoned GM Customer services and they said they might, offer a gesture of good will, but they need an engineers report to confirm the failure is not down to bad driving, i.e slipping and overheating the clutch.
We have had the car from new and neither of us drive the car badly, so hopefully Vauxhall will help out with the bill.
The ironic thing is we were going to get a new car just before Xmas, but was only offered £4,600 for it in PX. So we thought we would keep it a bit longer....
Anyone else had the same problem?

Fight it to the death!
A colleague of mine had a Audi A4 1.9 TDI, his turbo gave up @ 50k and 1 month out of warranty. They told him he wouldn't get any contribution, but with gentle persuasion, they attempted to negotiate before picking up the whole bill!

30000
I made a claim for similar ,100k mondeo, and motorplan , after the assesor had seen it stripped down , rejected because they maintained it was simply wear and tear - this was 3 months after a service at which nothing undue was found .....
Good luck

Bugger, I have a 9-3 Aero that was slipping when mapped so I detuned it, still slipped a bit for a while but now wont but I think I may send it on its way whilst it holds.
Dual mass flywheels are a menace !

We're trying to get Honda to admit the clutch on our Civic is slipping @ 20k miles. Strange how it slips every time when I drive it but when their techs drive it they say it's fine. Grrr.
I'll never buy another Honda, so far it's been as bad as our old Renault Clio. It's had more faults in 12 months than our Forester had in 8 years.

News back from the dealer
Vauxhall will pay for 50% of the dual mass flywheel & 50% of the labour.
We have to pay the rest....not sure how much off the bill that will be, but I think we will still end up witha bill of £700 - £800.
If only this had gone **** up 4 weeks ago the car would still have been in warranty, I wonder if it would all have been covered?

I'd say they're hoping you'll accept the offer and you should hold out for them paying up for the full thing. A clutch should not be dead unless abused in 30k miles and a flywheel should absolutely not be dead in 30k miles regardless.

Don't know if vauxhall do them but the ford transit has the same problem (also the majority of the other fords) but they do a solid flywheel conversion . Had this done on a truck i had and no probs at all and it was cheaper than the dual mass ?

Do Vauxhall still fit the dual mass flywheel in their newer models, as Ford have stopped fitting them in their Transits now ....... So the know that there is a fault on them

My car is in for a DMF and clutch change tommorow a Focus TDCi with 64k on the clock, in a small independant garage and it`s best part of £700.
I know there is a solid flywheel replacement but I have also heard that there is more strain on the gearbox then, i`d rather change a DMF than a gearbox. I am replacing it with a new DMF as somehow I think that if the vehicle was designed for a DMF thats what should be used, just hope the replacement is somewhat uprated and give longer service than the OE ones.
