They're pretty hard to value right now. A lot will depend on what history comes with car, which Skyline specialist has looked after it etc. Why's it had a new turbo? Is it an upgrade or was the old one knackered. They're twin turbo, remember so has it had a single conversion, just one of the turbos replaced or is it a typo? What mods has the car had?

It's tempting to say it's a buyers market at the moment but some GTR owners would rather hang on for the cash rather than drop the price which they can get away with if they have a minter.

TBh, it's obviously been used on track, and due to having had a replacement Turbo/Turbo's, that would leave me to deduce that it's been worked hard. Not just the engine, but suspension, brakes, drivetrain etc.

Personally, I look for one that's never been on track. That's just me though.

Looks like the brakes have been uprated (K-Sport) so I doubt it's been skimped on, tracked or not. The clincher for me would be whether those wheels are genuine Nismo or Rotas.

I think I know this car, if memory serves most of the work was carried out by Abbey so should be to a high standard and I don't doubt that it would have cost £30k to get that sort of spec from them

Prices are all over the shop at the moment - it seems 34's with a good spec (such as the one in your link) have asking prices of anything from 25-30k. These cars do take time to shift so if the seller is desperate your mate might be able to kick him in the nuts

Think my old 34 is still up for sale on the gtr forum, that's well worth a look and I can tell you everything you need to know about it.

Whatever he decides, get the car checked over properly, IMHO high power skylines are ticking timebombs and they're hugely expensive to fix when they go wrong (which they will )

So difficult to value. Fantastic car, a classic from the era, but really unfashionable now. (Max Power magazine is currently selling about a third of the number of copies it did at the peak six years ago, and all those lads have got kids ) In today's climate, I think you'd have to take silly money for a quick sale, but if the owner can hold on then, sooner or later, a good buyer will appear.

Richard.

When I think Max Power I don't think of a seemingly very tidy and quick Skyline, I think of a 1 litre corsa with a bodykit stuck to it.

The 'cruise' scene has changed a lot in recent times - not that I have any interest - and most cars are just fairly standard cars which are well looked after.

Still looks the business, I'd love one as a weekend toy.

Wouldn't buy this one purely because of the sellers lazy lack of capitalisation

Ha ha! Yes, but that's just a money thing. There is no question that the ultimate Maxmobile is a Skyline, and that most readers back then aspired to one, even over an Evo or Scoob. A couple of lads on the editorial team of Max Power had Skylines.

That's changed, and a sweet Skyline like this one no longer appeals to the kind of people that can afford it. They'll now have 5 Series diesels, or more likely a 4x4 for the WAG and spogs

Richard.
