Brake caliper (celica St202)

Brake caliper (celica St202)
I recently had my front disc and pads changed on my celica. Also a rear caliper had seized so new rear caliper and new pads - £508! Ouch
Anyway, the brakes seemed a little rubbish. But no problems found. I figured the brake fluid could do with a change as it hadn't been done for a while.
Last night the brakes seem ed really bad and locked up at about 10mph. Got out and the front drivers side disc was bright red.
So another seized caliper but so bad it's boiled the brake fluid melted the flexi pipe and worn the pad down to metal.
I have 2 questions.
1. Can a caliper sieze at any point? I thought it had recently been looked at for discs and pads it would greased up etc?
2. On speaking to toyota they stated as it's an import if it has super strut suspension it needs different pads, how can find out if the pads used were the correct ones (it was a local brake tyre place that fitted them).
Any help welcome. Car is currently sat at garage, ironically I had it booked in today to bleed the brakes and look at problem I had of lack of power/using more fuel (guess the brakes being on account for that!).
