I have seen one in white recently parked up. Did a double take as it is very eye catching. I would have one as a replacement on looks alone.

After ten years of owning and tuning Scoobs the relationship is coming to an end. I want something brisk, good looking, more civilised and cheaper to run.

I can lease a Scirocco for £250 a month which is pretty cheap in my book. I am sure my fuel consumption will halve as well.

And there aint a Golf GTi around at the moment.

My friend got one about a month ago now, He got it from an independant company as VW were idiots.
He was a cash buyer and wanted a deal, They said "these cars sell themselves if you want a deal your in the wrong showroom".
As it turns out he was, Anyways all that aside he is over the moon with it. I am yet to have a burn in it but he raves about it.

They look cool and if they are as good as the MK5 golf then its got to be a good choice.

I have to agree, the car definately has "something" about it. It looks different, solid and very elegant all at the same time. I really like it. Just a pity that a 2 door is not practical for me at the moment.

I ordered one twice.

First dealer changed the delivery date from 1st week in September to mid December. Canceled order.
Second order was placed with another dealer for delivery beginning of October. Delivery was put back to mid December early 2009. Canceled order. To be fair though, dealer 2 kept me informed, and explained reason for delay.

Anyway, dealer one told me they'd sell like hot cakes. As far as I know, they've sold one. There demo car. They have at least 2 Black & 2 Silver ones in stock, and have had them for a month or so.

They're not selling.

Nice ****, shame about the boat race if you ask me. But most people love it though, and it certainly reviews well as you say. Ticks a lot of boxes for many I think. I'd prefer the Golf version, more practical and less girlish (oops, sorry!) but the Scirroco is surely a sound buy.

If they're not selling it must be price. There's always a novelty premium. Maybe there are not the deals to be had on a new, new car. I can understand that.

But maybe our dealer friend in Oldham could do you an exclusive SN price and split his fat commission with you

Richard.

I'm the opposite to you Richard, I think it looks great from the front but like Vanessa Feltz from the rear.

Both dealers I used would not give discount. Aparently VW won't allow it yet on the Scirocco. 2nd dealer? Yes, him from Oldham gave me a couple little things the first dealer wouldn't.

Manufacturer's rarely give discounts on a brand new model. But, we are now in a credit crunch, so that stance should change, if it hasn't already.

If I hadn't bought the Golf, and didn't have a weekend car planned for the spring/summer , then I'd still consider buying a Scirocco. In Rising Blue Metallic.

I can get a discount of around £1,500-1,800 from a franchised dealership or pay £250 plus VAT x 35 month lease with a £1k deposit.

Just deciding best option. Lease deal is good as it pretty much equates to depreciation.

PS I will probably add leather and the dynaudio speaker pack which would up the price a little.

If they do a 3.6 4motion manual (R36 - not a passat ) I'll be interested, but until then, I'm not interested. Might be a loooong wait though, so will have make do.

My mate who works for VW in a local garage was telling me that VW made a number of Scirrocco's with the wrong size wheels on, something like 1 or 2 inches smaller than they should be and they have been selling them off with 2k discount, something to be aware of if anyone can live with slightly smaller wheels.
Not sure how many were made like this but he sold one only yesterday

£2k discount for something that can be fixed with a £1k's worth of wheels is a good buy...

...if you cannot get more than £1k discount on a kosher car

Where is VW dealer when you need him...

No R36 coming in scirocco., though there WILL be an "R" model of some description, but unlkely to be a V6.

Misbuilds with 17" wheels, I sold one to a guy who was upgrading anyway. They have £1000 off them, not £2000.

If you can get one for £250 a month, you should definitely consider it!

Go and drive one, you won't be disappointed!

Car is better than the Mk5 GTI, a grand cheaper and over a grands worth of extra's! (18's, tints, multi-wheel, armrest, ipod connector, adjustable suspension)

Dealers ARE now discounting Scirocco's, but they are mostly 2008 chassis-models that are overage/instock at the dealer. TBH a 2008/2009 chassis number is irrelevant.

It's difficult to get a decent discount on a factory order but I'm sure it won't be long!

They're not selling.
Just to clarify this, the Scirocco was ordered from me the second time, with a xenon light upgrade. VW couldn't supply the car temporarily due to the xenon maunufacturer, who manufactured them for Bosch who then supply to VW, went under due to the credit crunch.

Unfortunately, due to those circumstances, I had to offer a non-xenon equipped vehicle instead but it wasn't an acceptable alternative. As such, we amicably agreed to cancel the order, and I refunded STILOVER his substantial deposit immediately. Hopefully, we may do business in the future.

When the last A3 was a "new" car, my pal got 12% off during the first month of release... pre-recession obviously !

Never say never Rick.

TBH i was gutted at the time, especially when I had to drive past a Rising Blue Metallic one my local VW dealer had in as a demo, every morning.

Like I said in my post, you kept me informed, and I just didn't feel happy with the lower spec alternative you offered.

Certainly no hard feeling towards yourself.

Is this why there is no Xenon price in my price list but it is on the front page of the brochure!

I went to see one today - don't really like the blue - but I do LOVE the leather interior. It embarrasses a lot of cars including the BMW 3 Coupe which is bland and ordinary by comparison even though it has more bling.

I will take a drive tomorrow.

If it comes to it it will be either Green or Pewter with black leather, Dynaudio sound kit, rear sensor - that should do it

PS It is Nationwide Contracts personal lease - it is actually £1,500 plus £249 plus VAT a month plus the cost of extras.

Over the three year period about £1,500 less than total cost of VW PCP with a walkaway.
