Anyone have a 635D?
£60k car for 20 these days on 40k miles.
Torque: 427lb ft @ 1750rpm
Performance: 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds, 155mph top speed
Fuel economy: 40.9mpg (combined)
Opinions would be welcome as I need to start considering a replacement for my excellent 530D (albeit in a few years time as its only done 130k )

Yeah show me one for £20k and I'll have it.......
Still £33k+ on the trader. I like the idea but I've never been able to get past the styling myself. Plus they are no more practical than the 3 series.
A 335d would still be best in my book, especially with a remap.

Yeah - think I'm mixing up with the petrol...
I like the looks - my mate (you see him on SKY!) rolled up in a 645 convertible - absolutely stunning. Go with the first impression -- like Sophia Lauren
335 is fab, like my 530 (remapped ;-) ) but we look like a rep not a rock star LOL

I might test a 335d Touring this weekend. Planning to get one.
Inlaws had a 535d touring and it was great - until all the electronics died!
BMW are kicking **** with their high power outputs but mega low emissions.

Diesel - I might look at chipping a 330d - also means I could have a manual (335d is auto only) but I do prefer the power delivery with twin turbos and I'm not sure how the manual would cope with all that torque.

I got the 530D as I was doing 100 miles a day - a Diesel car did twice what the Evo did to the gallon and had similar torque. I was therefore spending £5k a year on fuel. You'd be spending £8k in a decent petrol car?
I'm sure a 635d and a 645i would be in a similar ball park...? Call it £2k pa difference even...?
Also, a petrol would depreciate proportionately more? You also get more engine longevity with a Diesel (probably).
However I doubt it would be worth much after 150k miles anyway so I'd be in it for the long run and am currently actually cycling to work (although its not 100 miles!).

I have compared the 335i to the 335d - 335i has higher tax (by a lot), depreciates quicker and is obviously worse on fuel BUT petrol is 12p cheaper and I do still have a soft spot for good petrols. Trouble is the mid range shove of the diesel cannot be ignored. Literally supercar bashing.

Anyway Injector re-furb from a specialist £100 each (£350 parts ONLY from main stealer). Think waiting inbetween smelly fork lift trucks not blondes and smoked glass and chrome though
Plenty of exchange suppliers for turbos outside the stealers- still a £1500 hit though. Just don't hammer it cold, let it spin/cool down and use the best possible oil. People can get over 200k on them...
At least I'm less worried than I was with my twin turbo RS4 That would have meant cancelling the annual holiday!
