2001 Vauxhall Corsa 1.0
My younger brother recently bought a 2001,1.0 corsa.(first car) after giving him the obvious advise and telling him to wait a day or two so that I could have a look over it for him he stupidly bought itwithout anyone checking it over
It has started to run crappy and sounds as if it is misfiring although it drives ok at speed.
There also seems to be a vibration coming through the car at idle and low revs.
Car has done 64k.
I have been told that these engines suffer from crank issues due to them being 3 cylinder.
Can anyone give any suggestions?

iva got a 2000 1.0 12v corsa, i despise it, but its alot cheaper to run on a daily basis compared to the scoob, mine also idles badly, then sometimes pulling away from a junction for example it feels like it almost loses complete power, not that it seems to have anyway in the first place, have been told the MAFs are quite a common problem to go on these, that and another sensor i forget the name of, a new maf from vauxhall is apparently £100, id rather mine idled badly as the sensor is about 1/7th the value of my car

My girlfriend has one too (starting to notice a trend here!)
As others have said they are quite lumpy due to the 3 cylnder engine. hers recently had a fault with the Lambada sensor coming loose in the exhaust, the guy said it would never actually come out as there wasn't room for it to without removing the exhaust, but it was jumping up and down and causing the engine management light to come on

go to local vauxhall ans ask them 2 put it onto tech 2, computer system we use, will show fault code, cud be maf, the 3 cylinder do rattle due 2 chain but shudnt iratic idle. check spark plugs and coil pack. o2 sensors play up on them.
a good dealer will fit tech 2 free, takes less than a minute. if ur in south wales area, brecon. i can look 4 u

Take the car to any good garage and they will interrogate the ECU to see if there are any fault codes. Once you find out the fault, torch the car and buy a Fiesta or a Yaris

Mrs Torque loves her 1.0 12v Corsa, funily enough she does not like the Yaris she learned to drive in one, Fiesta would be her second choice.
mje_wrx her corsa came from SV Brecon with a good service record, and is a GLS model the only thing she dislikes about it is that it has very hard clutch pedal compared to a hydraulic one. I`ve changed the clutch cable twice now (Snapped) usually once per year, but it`s still the same.
