CLK 430?

Anyone driven one of these?
Was passengered in one this week. Very nice. 4.3l 300bhp V8 sounded like a NASCAR, and didn't hang about either
With non-P&L loading fuel card in hand, all of a sudden mpg is a thing of the past
.....mmmmmmm V8

Not driven a CLK but have driven one of the old 500SEC's, the big barge-like pimpmobile thing. Ooooh yes. As you say: mmmmmmmmmm .... V8. Stand on the throttle (it feels like it needs two feet to operate) and the car just g-o-e-s, with that huge bonnet rising up in front of you. Surreal.
It was also pretty cool just to waft around at 30mph, barely tickling the throttle. You can see why people get into rude Mercs, they make you feel great and they are sooo cheap now.

as they launch their new CLK coupe. Due to hit the high street here in June, the new CLK is designed to take on challenges from its female-friendly rivals, Audi and BMW.
Mercedes is offering a range of six engines. At the top end sit the V8 367bhp CLK55 AMG and the V8 306bhp CLK500. Mercedes say that the CLK200 Kompressor, newly fitted with a four-cylinder, is now nearly 10 per cent more economical to run. The six-cylinder 3.2-litre 218bhp is kept on from previous models, but the 2.6-litre 170bhp petrol engine debuts with the range.
The manufacturer is also proud of the new five-cylinder CLK270 Cdi. Fitted with a common-rail fuel-injection diesel, 170bhp unit, Mercedes claim a class-best in terms of economy (it averages 42.2mpg).
Mercedes have opted for the ‘bigger is better’ maxim with the CLK coupe. It’s longer, it’s wider and taller than previous models. Sleeker, too. And there’s new equipment across the range - such as automatic climate control, adjustable steering wheels, electric windows for the back, and rain sensors.
Audi and BMW will be anxiously watching. They’ll also be waiting to hear the prices, which haven’t been announced yet. Experts are predicting £28,000 to £45,000.
