Got a Charade Gtti as a run about to partner my Scoob but the plug are getting badly fouled. Quick question is would having too much oil in the engine cause this. is seems to have double the amount of oil ! Sump plug seems to be stuck fast at the moment.

Short answer is yes it would: excess oil pressure would force oil past the valve stem seals and piston rings & soot them. Try and get the right amount of oil in there ASAP, or you can blow out crank oil seals which will be VERY costly to fix.

You should also see alot of blue smoke coming from the exhaust if that is the case.

It could also be running very rich.

OIl changed and running much better now. Can't beleove there we nearly 6 litres of oil in an engine that takes 3.2 litres.

Just seems to be running mega rich now and needs tuning.

Anyone know of any garages that know these cars in the London area. Daihatsu dealers don't seem to know much about these cars and charge £60 per hour labour which is outrageous !
