Colleague at work has got the new Civic Type-r it's now done 2.5k but ever since new when car is cold 2nd gear won't engage. He's taken it to dealer who said " they all do it ". doesn't seem very helpfull !.

Has anybody elso had a simular probem ?

I want it fixed so i can have a proper go and compare it with my bug eye.

No way should you stand for that.

When cold mine can be a bit sluggish getting into second, but nothing that's ever caused a problem - I can still get away quickly.

They definitely don't 'all do that sir'!!!

Dont build em like they used too

I have been reliably informed the gearbox is not the best in the world and will get worse as it gets older.

I guess its totally normal once its warmed up.

I would moan at the dealer to sort it, that is no excuse 16K is a lot of dough and he should get a gearbox that selects. I would insist on an replacement.

Good luck

Question

Will the reliability not get worse because they are redlining higher than older models. Generally over life span of use it will have reved higher longer and more wear and tear?
