Question

Anyone got a 2.0, 2.7 or any comments?

My girlfriend is after a 2.7. I know they're relatively cheap, but the power/performance isn't that much up on the 2.0, especially considering the emissions (it's a company car) so her tax will be high.

By comparison, the 2.0 seems a much better buy, isn't that much slower, and has really low CO2 too although it seems a bit rough. I asked the salesman why he felt the V6 was worth the extra and all he could say was the engine note was better

Any objective comments would be appreciated.

People who don't like them need not apply (her heart is set - apparently "there's a f**king Puma on every corner!").

Cheers,

Deano.

The reason there is a Puma on every corner is they are a top car.

Cool

Darren,

That's her opinion, not mine and wasn't meant as a dig mate!

Cheers

Sorry mate I was not having a dig back and I did not think you were having a dig either.

Daz.

P.S: Get the Puma, it's the most fun you can have with your cloths on and that includes the Scooby as I have had both.

I had the coupe before I got my scoob.

I have said this all before on a different thread so I'll be brief, they are a load of crap! The workmanship is bo**ox.Mine had a boot full of water, glove box door came off in my hand, everything creaked,...blah,blah,blah!

Maybe I got a friday afternoon car,but I wouldnt give Hyundai a second chance to prove themselves.

I used to work in a Hyundai dealership and I think they're great!!

The old style coupe's did have a few build issues, like the centre console lid coming off!! Alright it shouldn't happen but we put it down to cd's, they fit horizontally but vertically they are slightly longer, and break the hinges... I know cos I did it.. TWICE:0 Anyhoo, the build quality, accross the range is coming on leaps and bounds!

I've not seen much of the new Coupe, have sat in one briefly but not driven one, if it's owt like the old it should be a hoot! The 2litre was quick, quite surprisingly actually, it was a little harsh sounding tho Given the Choice, I'd go for the 2 litre.

Whilst I was at Hyundai we never had any big problems with "failures", the leaky boot as mentioned certainly wasn't a comon problem, we did have our share of rattles tho.

Good luck

Bob

Darren, you had a Puma !

That surprises me mate, I mean they are nice cars and get a top write up but Darren Thompson owning one ?

Cant quite get my head around it, I can see you in a Scoob, Ancient Silver Golf GTI and bright Yellow MK2 Escort rally cars (Yes the one I caned with my black 1600 GTI down Schools Hill) but a Puma, a bit too feminine isnt it ?

I do understand really, handling, fun factor etc, it just surprises me that you would go for one. What did you have in between the old bangers and the Puma ?

I used to be a Sales Manager at one of there Dealerships many moons ago...

The residuals values are'nt very good at all but...in saying that they're quite a high spec car for the money. They have come a long way forward from the days of the Pony and S Coupe.

If thats what the other half wants then go for it, make her day

Lets just say I built a very fast Astra 1300 for road rallying with a full x-works engine from a Nova, added Astra 16V brakes all round and then put a full straight cut gear box and LSD in it, did a little with the suspension and won a few events in my class.

Some good points - thanks everyone!

It's really not down to me - I just don't want her driving some death trap or have to stick bits back on for her every weekend

Thanks again.
