Z4M or S2000?
Got a bit of spare money so am considering another convertible- for my mid life crisis, and for the girls to have some fun in.
I was all set to buy a 3.0 Z4, as they're so cheap at the moment, until I saw how cheap Z4m roadsters are.
A mate of mine then threw me a curve ball and offered me a choice of brand new S2000's for £20k- about the same as a 2-3 year old Z4m, and within budget is I sell the hawkeye STi, which is in the back of the garage gathering dust.
Any constructive thoughts?

lucky you! +1 Z4M! I think the S2000 is a great car and the build quality seems quite good. I went through a (short lived) phase of considering a Z4 3.0si - didnt think much of the build tbh - not the usual BMA 'click clunk' sturdiness imo. But the attraction of the M3 engine coupled with a roadster is quite a temptation!

S2000 and Z4 3.0 worth comparing but another vote for Z4M.
Risiduals on the Z4M should be good on them as well when you consider a good 1998 Z3M will still set you back 10K.

I see way more S2000's than Z4M's which says a lot when the Honda is rare itself. Also, the Honda is becoming dated slowly but surely. I still love it but I'd not have an 09' S2000 when I can have an 07 Z4M with sub 15k miles and all the options for the same money.

Funnily enough my GF and I had the same question as a local dealer had both side by side for £9995 for a S2000 and a Z4. We both went for the Z.
Where we would put our 7 year old I don't know

Many more S2000s around than Z4Ms
I've just got a Z4 3.0si and it's a fun piece of kit. I've also driven a Z4M and it's a bit of beast. I considered one, but couldn't find the right one at the right price. Straight line, there isn't a huge amount in it (compared to the 3.0Si), but the Z4M is better over demanding roads. Pretty hard ride though. I will be ditching the run flat tyres soon and I would advise you to do the same if you get one - they're bloody awful. Falken 452's or the Michelin Pilot run flats (which are meant to be miles better, but very expensive) are the preferred option. Also factor in the high running costs of the M models - it is starting to affect the values with the 3.0 Z4s starting to hold their price better than the Z4Ms.

Pal found the S2000 a bit twitchy in an insurance claim stylee !
I had a play with a Z4 once, in the wet, he was drifting around in an amusing style, even if I was just stuck behind watching it wagging it's AR*E all over the place...

I'm not sure I'd go for a parallel import to save £1500 to be honest.
Regardless, mind is made up. Just need to find the right Z4m now, ideally before the Grand Prix @ Silverstone

Not bad. Cheshire life is suiting me well! Shame I've only been spectating at Oulton lately though instead of driving.
We'll have to meet up again soon. My lad would love to see your car collection!

Come down to Anglesey circuit 20th August We're taking two Max5 race cars, Hawkeye STi, RS4 and a GTR. Should be interesting (and a fookin' expensive day out!)
