Recently bought a B7 RS4 (V8)
I traded my 350Z in last week for an RS4.
I've always missed the practicality of rear seats (and doors) but felt I had to move on from Scoobys/Evos - although I still love them!
I'd been thinking the last few months I'd rather like a German super saloon as I've had a few Japanese cars: Supra, STi3 4-door, STi6 TypeR Ltd..
Last Weds I spotted a lovely phantom black RS4 saloon on 07 plate. I drove up to Leeds on Weds afternoon and after a good test drive and long conversation I did the deal. I then picked it up last Friday and am really pleased.
The quality is fantastic and the noise makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
It was great fun dricing back home down the M1, even though it was rush hour.
I have all the essential extras from my wishlist:
Bucket seats
Flat bottomed steering wheel
SatNav
Aluminium trim inserts
Bluetooth.
Not had much chance to really explore the car yet as I had new brake pads fitted before picking it up and they have to be bedded in gently.
Hopefully, weather permitting, I'll be up in Derbyshire during the weekend for a good blast.
I'll put some pictures up later.

Welcome to the club, I plumbed for a S6 Avant and the best car choice i've ever made.
Just be prepared to spend a lot of time at the petrol pump, i'm currently doing about 17.4mpg and somewhat less than that when giving it some heavy right foot!!!

I had one from new for about 16 months and in retrospect, it probably "ticked more boxes" than all my previous cars (and they included many 911's , Ferrari, Skyline GTR, Subaru, Evo, RS6 etc etc.)
If you put on a milltek (resonated, as non resonated is mentally loud) you will be grinning every time you drive it. Superb build quality.

I'm umming and arring over what to have next - and think I've arrowed it down to the RS4 or new M3 (been offered an E46 SMG - form someone at work - only 35K on the clock and in good condition - but a bit out of date now?).
What do you reckon - the RS4 or the E92 M3? Someone has unhelpfully suggested that I check out Carrera 4S's too... Used to love 911s (never driven one however) but not sure whether I'd prefer a super saloon as a bit more discreet...
Any thoughts re the above selection?

I guess "discreet" is a relative term... Have a modded P1 (which I'm never selling!) and a chavved up Peugeot 306 on throttle bodies.... It's time for the Pug to go I think (which is a shame as I bloody love it - but I'm having to turn up to weddings and the like with the in-laws and it's starting to be a bit silly). Want something that looks a bit more grown up - is very comfortable, but still a bit hooligan.

I bought an S4 over both an E46 M3 and a 911.
The Audi is certainly discreet. Annonymous I'd say. Which suits me thanks.
It is quicker than both the M3 or Porsche, and the V8 beats them both hands down. But they are all completely different cars. Very personal thing.
I would have gone for a 911 if I could find one like the Audi, ie three years old, 15k miles and sub £20k. But they don't exist.

I'm in the same boat , I've had a E46 M3 for about two and a half years now and looking to change , I have decided to retire from rallying so will be selling my 2 rally cars and treating myself to a new road car , was thiinking 911 , new M3 or RS4 , a quick look at a 911 knew it wasn't for me , so M3 or RS4 , had a good look over an M3 and found them quite diluted in looks compared to the E46's big arches , so pretty much decided on an RS4 avant , I really like the look of white , but they are like hen's teeth , my mrs wants black , along with the bucket seats , carbon trim , seen a few pics with 20's on and fell in love with it !

I've seen that Avant on RS246.com. It has the RS6 wheels and looks great. One thing I'd like to see are the 20" wheels seen on some A5s on the RS4. They're exactly the same double spoke design as those on the RS4 but an inch bigger.
Thanks for the comments. It's a pain to keep clean right now due to this rubbish weather we're having. Will be cleaning it for the 3rd time (in just over a week) tomorrow.

Nice motor, have to say for the scooby fans we did obliterate one of these on the way back from TOTB last week. A trifle on the weighty side up to the legal limit but like the V8 AMG or equivalent M5 its built as a torquey euro cruiser rather than a 0-60 short blast rocket, although Im sure it does exactly what you want from it, Enjoy!

To the Op great choice mate, I have had mine for a few months and they are simply sublime. They are discreet, functional, well built, have awesome road presence and are very, very, fast. You are so going to love it. I also have a black saloon but i went for one with the black optics on it and it looks even better (for me anyway)
Their rarity helps the residuals and you can drive them all day without getting a headache.
MPG is fine over mixed driving, I'm getting 23 - 24, my STiPPP did 20 over the same journey. They will hit 26 - 27 on a long haul the STiPPP did 23 tops.
KK3960 you say you obliterated one, well perhaps you did in your modified WRX (then again maybe he wasn't trying ), but with 414bhp, 0 - 60 in 4.5s and 0 - 100 in 10.5s these are no cruisers. Your car has 431bhp I assume so find a RS4 with over 600bhp and have the same race again mate, apples with apples and all that eh

Absolutely lovely! I looked at these but they seem to have forgotten to depreciate!
Looked at the 3.0TDI Avant instead and the 335d Touring - the Beemer was lighter, faster, better in fuel and had a bigger boot (just) so it won but I'd have an RS4 Avant like a shot.
However £800 gets me a remap from 286bhp/428 lbsft to around 350bhp and well over 500lbsft....
But for now the 335d is plenty quick enough!

There are a few things you will need to look out for on the car, failing DRC and nasty clogging up of the inlet manifold....
When you are ready to up the power let me know. You won't find one that dyno's above 390ish and ive seen some with problems coming in around 290! i got mine from a lumpy 390bhp standard to this:
Oh and if you think the car sounds good now, you should hear my decatted non res/non valved Milltek

keep a look on on fleabay for the CF interior trim inserts - they will make a good interior a LOT better.

RS246.com is utter rubbish, and it's a shame that it is one of the only sites that around!
Kudos with the power sorted out though.
