Its called making a contingency plan Steve....for when I get banned
Opps forgot to ask SubEvo how he is getting on with it.....
So SubEvo, how are you getting on with the Smart?
Is that your main car ?
Do you do much motorway work in it ?
I'm VERY interested in the Pulse model mk6....would mean shifting the scoob though......

ok mate.sold my 5 door 99 uk wagon.due to high cost of ownership but enjoyed the experience.decided to try something different and the smart is!what i like are they are very cheap to buy. mines is the passion model 55hp with air con, elec windows, glass roof,6 speed sequential gearbox with fully auto button. so if you cant be bothered to change gears you dont have to.weighs 720kilos.has abs, electronic brake distribution, skid avoidance program.supposed to be almost as safe as an A class.no problems at motorway speeds except the wind does blow it about.they are restricted to 85mph but many people get them chipped which produces around 80hp and 110-120mph.official 0-60 is around 16secs but definetly feels a lot faster.surprised many cars away from the lights.easy to chuck around corners.millions of accessories including brabus tuning parts.can be moddified to 100hp.basic chip costs £280.in short just great fun +55mpg no problem+£200 fully comp insurance.negatives are everyone stares at you.

My girlfriend is getting a Smart car for her new Consultant post, can't rely on public transport when you are a consultant apparently
Any advice please.
I have read in the past that the "first mod" is to buy an extra set or rear wheels to stick on the front.
Who does ECU tinkering for them?
Brake/Exhaust upgrades etc
"The Brabus thing"

Hi there,
We are on our second Passion. First was a LHD import, we now have a RHD Mk5 in all black.
Great car. Harry Potter re the wheels in many peoples opinion the first mod is to change the wheels for bigger ones all round. We have Brabus wheels and they not only improve grip, handling and brakes but RIDE too. Brabus also do an ECU and Exhaust which we will be fitting shortly if we don't decide to buy a Mk 6.
Personally I would go for a Brabus tuned Passion over a Pulse.
I have driven fro London to Norwich etc.,.. in ours with no probs at all, mind you if the Scoob is at hand it would always be the first choice out of the two.
Smart may only have two seats but has better luggage capacity than our 02 Mini Cooper
Great car buy one

I have a Passion.
Don't go for the Pulse, they have the same power, but for a limited time in the Passion.
We had the Pulse while waiting for the Passion to be ready and believe me you don't use the full 61bhp for more than 8secs at a time much anyway.
You're better off getting the better spec and upgrading the engine, than getting the Pulse and adding air-con etc. (Oh and you NEED aircon with that glass roof.
If you want to upgrade than Brabus is the expensive way to do it. Digitec is cheaper and some say better.
Bear in mind that an upgraded Pulse will have no extra power than an upgraded Passion. They are identical engines with an artificial time restriction on the max boost for the Passion.
Fanatasic little cars, great fun.

Puting rear wheels on the front is a bad idea as the offset is different, and (a) it looks silly as the front track is really wide, and (b) it knackers the wheel bearings.
What you can do it buy any of the mid price wheel sets and use the original front rear tyres on the new front wheels, and buy a set of 195s for the rear.
I've just bought a set of Brabus Mono Vs for my forhtcoming Mk6 Passion. While at Brabus I saw their demo car: It has Brabus everything, which turns an £8.5k car into a £16k car. It had 16" wheels front, and 17" at the back.
