I can see why they went bust.

The only way he will get money out of that car is that if he finishes it and then sells it. He might get £5k then as opposed to £500

I'd be inclined to suggest he should invest in one more mod - ten quids worth of bp's finest and a packet of matches cos it's sure as hell the only way he's gonna get a fraction of what he thinks it's worth .... assuming of course that he managed to find an insurance company stupid enough to cover on an agreed value basis anyway.
