Default 07 Astra 1.9 cdti 150 + remap?

Hi all,

Im looking at buying a 57 plate astra cdti 150 soon and i was wondering how much a remap would add to the bhp and torque roughly?

standard they are 150bhp/ 236lbs/ft

any feedback is much appreciated

You can see up to about 210 horse, but if you put a tuning box on which fits straight to the common rail and takes 2 mins to fit you will get approx 185 ish horse which makes a big difference

Your looking at a box that will give you 200+ bhp and 320lbs of torque.

WOW! well impressed with that lol. so i take it the tuning box the better option over a remap?

i bet they quite competitive with a astra vxr with that power and torque?

Be careful with the common rail ones, although the astra is diff, I used one from dtuk on my old insignia 160 it lasted 20mins then engine sounded awful I took it oak and the car ran as though on 3 cylinders , took it back to vauxhall and injector system had gone, I think these sit on the top also .

Mine was worse case though, my previous Audi a4 was done by angel tuning and was perfecto

Good luck

The astra is a good one to map and will probably be ok with 1000s been done

Don't know if they've got dpf's but I wouldn't go near another vauxhall diesel with one after owning a 1.9 cdti signum.
The 1.9's seem to have a lot of faults around the egr's and stuff associated

Its actually a fiat engine, you find it in vauxhalls, fiats, saabs and alfa's (I may have missed one )
If your after unrelable diesels then look no further than..........vw!

i had a 55 plate leon fr tdi had it remapped to arounf 190 bhp can t remember the torque on a run at 70 mph in 6th gear it would easily do high 40/low 50's round town it went don to arounf mid 30's but that was stop start driving through birmingham daily in rush hour couldnt live with the front wheel loss of traction even in the dry easy o spin the front wheels had 2 glow plugs replaced under warranty traded it in for a 55 wrx with ppp

Astra is a work horse and a good choice, obviously there are others

Leon Fr
Clio 182/172
Skoda VRS maybe even Octavia VRS

I had an Astra VXR and i loved it only bit that pissed me off was when u popped it in reverse your hand hit the passenger seat, but they were recaros, and i hazard a guess the diesal will be diff.

My dads got the 120 BHP Elite and its fantastic car Heated seats leather only cost 9500

Goodluck in what you choose you wont go wrong with the Astra to be honest, cheap to service etc, Just make sure you do Milidge in it cos diesals clog up if your only doing 2 mile runs every day and it can damage the parts, seen this loads time at the garage near me only last week they had a zaferia back for 1000 worth of filter clogginess, but its the same leons do it even the new uns

I was looking in to getting one a while back, I think you would need a few other supporting mods before you reached those figures though.

They spin their wheels easily/torque steer even with the standard power/torque (I had one for four years) but it's a pretty decent chassis and the engine is fairly refined.

Watch for swirl flap failure - mine went at 42k. Had the car not still been under warranty, it would have cost a fortune.

I'd always have a remap over a tuning box but that's just personal choice. I had a similar choice recently and went for a Mondeo ST TDCI. Bit bigger than what you're after though

I'm running one at the moment (1.9Cdti). Just had a box fitted, and it makes a nice difference to power and torque. As mine is a green box it also helps with fuel.

EGRs are an issue, and they cause issues with the swirl flaps. Ultimately that costs about £1k to fix inc labour and parts from a VX main dealer. Not all of them have the issue, but its worth looking into options to shut off the EGR valve. This stops all the crap going into the inlet manifold and causing the issues with the swirl flaps.

Going to get mine done soon. Local garage is getting some kit that will allow the EGR to be unplugged without the management light coming on. Head over to AON to have a good read about them.
