Focus ST is a great hatch. Lovely engine, sounds fantastic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcOsr...EA7F6767CD95A8
Are you intending plastering whatever you get in stickers?

I was thinking of 'going different' with an ST/RS after owning all manner of scooby's over the past few years.
Here's a thread of what happened. The DC5 is now up for sale as I'm coming back

Nice thread on PH bones.
ST's have nice engines - 5 pot growl is nice even as standard. Facelift model looks tidier imho. Dont get an orange one tho
I did toy with getting one before I went for an FN2 CTR. I test drove back to back and the ST felt sluggish and lardy whereas the CTR felt sharp and the interior was different league (ST = very cheap plasticky look). One thing that also put me off is reliability. My mate has had a pre-facelift ST2 for about 4.5yrs now and had quite a few electrical niggles with it.
Im now starting to look at my next car in 2012 and like the STi hatch (possibly JDM). RS Mk2 looks good value and if your thinking ST I'd say try and stretch to an RS. Running costs dont look much different really (RS is same tax band as ST and my CTR - couldnt believe that for a 2.5 300PS car). Im still wary about the FWD traction in less than dry conditions no matter what the revoknuckle brigade say. One thing Ive disliked about the CTR and makes me want to go back to AWD. Also looked at Evo X's but the are in the highest tax bracket (M ??) which ok is only £10 more per year than L at the moment but Im sure they will change that and it will end up £500+ a year (amazes me it isnt already).

What I can't understand is why most of the Orange ones are ST-2's and if you look at the purple/blue colour they are more often than not ST-3's

They are sh1te , that's a honest answer for you
Buy a focus rs , good car if kept under 300 and you can get them for £8500 nowadays
I've had both and the rs wins hands down , the st is so cheap inside it will drive you crazy
