Mitsubishi Evo V111 MR 320 power figure.
I took an Evo 1X not a V111 sorry. to Dazteck for greersport racing today. Greers only put a fuel pump, air filter, forged actuator, and ported the turbo elbow. And this car made 404bhp, and 370lbft on 1.7 bar, on a standard engine. Now try doing that in a uk spec 2.5. Not a hope in hell. I was impressed how it drove as well. The only thing it missed was the noise.

My evo 8 at dastek made 399.5bhp with uprated cams but a smaller turbo. More than suitable as an everyday driver (infact did over 30 thousand miles in a year with it). Std rods reckoned to be okay at those power levels and pistons upto 550bhp! Drop in rod job is just over a grand with all labour etc.

If it makes you feel better, i have spent way more than you. I started with a WRX. Not good for moding. LOL It made me feel a little sick, seeing this car make so much power so easily for a couple of hundred pounds. LOL. I might look at getting an Evo Wagon.....

I have been looking for an evo 8 or 9 recently myself, after 5 years ownership of my previous sti runing 341/349. I thought this is about the time to join the 'dark side'!!! Really can't wait to get my hand on one...

Just sold my 410BHP Evo IX and came back to Scoob ownership.
Its hard to get away from the thumper side.
They are easier tuned, mine had 3" Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, Blitz panel filter, uprated fuel pump and remapped by Zen performance to make 410BHP at 1.75bar

EVO are solid motors, they respond so well to tuning in comparison to the Impreza, not only that but its a better car all round!!
I had a 400bhp Impreza and a 400bhp EVO 9 after. The EVO was faster in every aspect! Had no where near the lag of the impreza, much more neutral balance really neutral and open platform there to be driven hard. I compare the two like this, STI is like Rambo, EVO is like 007...sums it up nicely IMO

I lolled
Go on you tube and you will see which is the better of the 2 and its not the evo
I could go on about when Mitsubishi released the evo ix over here and I put my subaru (standard STI) against it (Evo Greece mag), which was quicker and handled better

hehe i had fun playing with a new evo fq 330 the other day, the newest one out,
so much fun in my l reg sack of sh*t,
would let him boot it, to get along side then just plant it and watch him disappear in the mirror -could tell he was a bit gutted
but fair play gave me a wave when i took slip road off.

Tony don't get me wrong, in stock guise it's a close battle with th STi losing http://www.fastestlaps.com/compariso...er_evo_ix.html
However as soon as you want to start throwing some money at your motor the evo is the better base car to work with. Bang for buck the impreza doesn't come close! I don't expect anyone to agree with me on a Subaru forum, lucky I have had both cars in stock trim and modded them unto 400bhp so I can speak openly and honestly without the rose tinted glasses the audience here have

i dont have rose tinted specs on
i know that a car 17 years newer than mine, will have a better developed chassis and as standard, brakes, infact a lot better everything.
i like evos, but the 6 is the one id get, after that they become a bit wrong imo
yeah ive spent a **** load on mine - but not nearly as much as a new evo - and you cant beat it when they see the l plate and come right up your ****,
i like to pull over let them get along side then watch the faces as they try to get it too keep up

However the basis of comparison should be for example an 05 STi and an 05 EVO....here the evo wins! Throw 2k at both cars and the EVO not only wins but it extends the lead over the STi. 5k at both EVO maintains the lead, 10k at both and then they are near enough back on par with each other performance wise with STi having the edge due to it's charm (everyone loves the underdog story)

WHP excludes losses related to the dyno, and varies greatly between dynos. Dastek showed half the losses of Maha on my Subaru. So quite an impressive WHP figure on Dastek could mislead, although it matches closer to WHP estimates based on weight, frontal area, Cd and acceleration.
