I had an r32 gtst a few years ago loved it, kept it for about 3-4 years doesnt cost anywhere near as much for parts as the GTR, mine wasnt a money pit at all, only thing that went were the cluctch and maf, clutch was easy enough to get hold of and the maff just needed re-soldering
my advice is look at and drive as many as possible and as with most cars the more history the better. Just look out for the rear wings rusting and make sure the brakes dont need replacing anytime soon as they arnt cheap..... hmmm you got me thinking now :/

I had a 750bhp r33gtr with an Rb30 engine 3lt with single t04z turbo over the rb26 2.6 engine, the car was built by Rb Motorsport and cost over 60k I did buy the car with all the work done to it, iv also had 3 r33 gtst and the difference is massive, body weight is one and the Gtr feels more like a drivers car. 4 wheel drive and stuck to the road they also like to rev my Gtr was set to 8.5k revs. The gtst feels a bit light and flimsy and the back end loves to kick out alot. My Gtr was a daily driver but when the boost kicked in at around 4.5k it really hit you was capable of 200mph easy.
A standard Gtr is only 280bhp and after a wk or so u will get bored, with a set of cams, full exhaust system and boost controller u could see 330bhp. As we all know tuning anything to a high standard cost £££££.
I never had any issues with my Gtr or gtst's serviced regularly warmed up and cooled down properly.
If being honest I did own a type r v5 with 300bhp the same time I had my gtst which was 380hp and out the 2 I prefered the Subaru, far more torgue felt tighter the Subaru burble I don't think u can beat.
For a motorway car that can take the family with a quite growl but also has the good top end speed go for the Gtr, for the adrenaline rush of noise and torque with immediate power under the foot, for me the Subaru can't be beat.

A few of my mates have r33 gtst, one of which is a top drifter in the bdc! They are all trying to get me to get a r33 gtst saying they are stronger and more reliable than scoobys I did consider it however I think I am going to remain with Subaru!
I love scoobys to much

Ive had quite a few skylines.I really enjoyed the tailswing from the 400bhp gtst r33,the standard r33 gtr and it was really boring. The 32 gtst with big turbo was my favourite though nice and nimble and handled very well

I've got a GTST at 330 bhp and I've had an stock Sti V5 wagon. The GTST has a custom tune and the boost is upped a bit, but standard turbo, internals, cams etc, but lots of handling mods.
The Subaru 4 bangers do not have much more torque that I have noticed. The STi hits you harder in the back a bit, but mainly because the RB25 in my GTST has a much flatter torque curve coming on at 3k but the Subaru was more peaky not getting up to boost until 4k. The RB25 is much better as a street car engine, as it has way better low down torque than the Subaru 4 banger thanks to more displacement and variable timing on the inlet cam.
The RB engines are smoother than the 4-bangers. RB25 gearbox is very strong indeed. People running 700 hp parachuted drag cars though OEM box (won't last forever of course though).
I can't speak about GTR's too much, never owned one.
The GTST is about 1350 kg so a bit heavier than a Subaru and longer wheelbase, but anyone who says an Impreza is 'more fun' obviously cannot drive because a RWD car is the most involving.
The Skylines have excellent weight distribution and balance at the end of the day. Good cars, but only really see potential when modified.

Had an r33 gtst a couple of years ago, it was rear wheel drive and mapped by rising sun performance, and badly, went like stink overfuelled like mad and sonded absoloutley awesome at full chat, popping flames out the back you could cook sausages in, but lile already said, money pits, you think subarus cost a lot to mantain and run, dont buy a skyline unless you dont care about money, the 4x4 version is the gtr in whichever guise you go for.

The R33 is not a small car to be fair but the wheelbase is still slightly less than a BMW 3 series...it's not a barge and is not that heavy at just under 1400 kg stock.
Sure a Scoob is a different animal. I find around town, parking, etc and narrow country lanes I miss the scoob, much better turning circle etc.

alot more than 1400 gotta be i had full brandnew coilovers handled alot better still a barge tho there massive and alright once stretched there legs and your doing 100 mph but till then just make noise(screamer pipe) lol. loved going sideways hated the hicas system makes it very sketchy when giving it some. really bad on fuel to. I only got a skyline to get it out my system as a kid loved them from fast and furious lol not grown up much since then im 22 lol. Just get type r lol i love it so diff to the wrx classic i had before

No the GTR is heavier because of the extra running gear but the curb weight of the GTST is 1390 kg, that would include spare wheel etc as well.
They can feel heavy with coilovers because it makes them crashy over our potholed roads, and the HICAS is best put in the bit.
As for 'being massive' well an Impreza hatch is wider than a GTST.

PM 'GTR Cook', he has an R34 GTR, lovely thing it is too, has owned it around 3 years and has also tracked it, once it's off the line, it's a real beast, also handles pretty well too, only has stage 1 mods and running around 400bhp
Also look on GTROC, seem like a nice bunch on there and obviously very knowledgable!

You need a skyline over 500bhp to make it feel quick IMO as they are heavy beasts. They are extremely expensive to run due to the 'skyline' tax on parts lol! Worth it tho when you have a good one tho
