Default thinking of selling up

and not because of the fuel use heh

i really like the car, but all i see is a huge money pit
loads of things i would love to do but its £££££££££ etc (susp, mapping, exhaust, gah)
and im still nervy as hell of it going pop lol... (admitedly this is what worrys me more heh)

thinking of going golf r32 v6, or Audi s4 v8

that or getting a 2litre STI or JDM

not sure atm but i really dont wanna lay anymore money out

opinions on the above cars etc ?

i fully expect a roasting

Your saying such cars like R32, S4 etc, These would also concern me that there could easily go pop, My friends R32 let go at 30k it was sorted under warranty but the bill would have been huge

dont get an r32 golf, great cars but not well built, i had nothing but problems with mine,(low mileage, full main dealer service history) final straw was the haldex for the 4x4 packing up in the winter, sold it on and never again.
touch wood but my impreza i have the now and the past 2 ive owned have been fantastic cars.

Had an Audi S4 Avant (granted, the V6 bi-turbo), but it was a very reliable car, albeit a tad boring.
Great power - BRILLIANT q-car, but I was always nervy of the turbos going pop (VERY expensive event)

Now I've got a Golf Mk5 GTI, and they apparently are quite hit and miss when it comes to reliability, so I can only speak for mine - it's been FANTASTIC. Cheap to run (compared to my Scoobs), quick (relative to what you can actually get away with on the roads these days)....

I looked at the R32 - too heavy for me, and can echo the running cost concerns. The S4 V8 - good car, but still expensive to run, and ultimately still an un-involving drive....

So whilst the Subaru doesn't have the same draw it used to, it's still a reliable car, albeit an expensive-running one.

But there are other options

FWIW - my golf is my daily runner, whilst I'm saving for something red and Italian I can now afford both

Good luck either way.

Dan

you're not going to save fuel and running costs shifting to those: you need to go diesel etc.

there are loads of "newish" high spec scooby's sat on dealer forecourts going for pence.

no one wants them clearly.

im not bothered about saving running costs
i dont do alot of miles and can walk to work etc

more annoyed that im lookin at a big bill to get my scoob how i want it, and im bulking at the idea heh, as well as worried about it going boom :P

kinda fancy a change too be it to a ready fettled scoob or something else

might even get the lotus ive always wanted :E
