Having returned my practical 406 estate to the garage as the poxy think had electrical faults that they can't fix I need another car, I'd love another scoob but can't handle the running costs (already have a uk300)

so what do I get ?

Could get a decent 1.8 MX5 for that kind if dosh !!

Wouldn't touch a Froggy Clio with a barge pole (IMHO !!)

needs to be something sensible-ish as the MRS will commute to work in it, so not a westie (although i'd love one) have thought about importing a Seat

Heartily recommend the Leon 20VT, had one before the Scoob. Boot was too small for family car.

What about the Ibiza 130bhp TDi Sport - same engine as the GT TDI 130 Golf but import it for under £11,000.00, including Climatronic, Metallic and CD etc.

Someone I work with is selling a 6 month old Leon Cupra for around 12 grand. It is a '51' plate and is black. It has about 180 brake as used in vw/audi's but with a 6 speed box plus climate control etc. I think they are lovely and I think they are well worth a look at, basicaly a better speced and cheaper than the others

If you want any more info then let me know!

If not good luck in what ever you choose

Cheers

Andy

How about an Impreza Sport?

Group13 insurance, more miles per gallon, still handles like a scoob with the AWD. Twin Airbags for safety plus all the usual Impreza stuff, just no turbo to eat the fuel.

Mines for sale in the for sale section.

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=91328

You could buy this and with the money saved take the misses on a great holiday or put a new kitchen in. Extra Brownie points.

Another vote for the Octavia RS (not that I'm biased mind). Loads of boot space, reasonably quick (not quite as quick as a Sport ) cheap to run. Go on, give it a try!

or, if you like 4wd but want something quicker than a sport.

Octavia 4x4 - 150bhp, ESP, and very low key!

(and yes, it has the same turbo as the RS, so easily tunable)

IC

(edited to say if you're after an estate, they do it as one of those also.... not that I'm biased )

I'd have said another Pug (206/306 GTi6) but guess you wouldn't really wanna touch WM with a barge-pole after the 406 fiasco .... and I don't blame ya !!! .....

Do they do import 147s for that much ? ....

have thought about importing a Seat
'twas what I was gonna suggest also.

£11.5K will get you the recently revised MY03 Leon 20VT complete with 17" wheels, new "Cupra4" style front end and some more flashy bits inside. Fully specced as usual, leather for another £750 or so.....

Gza ~ just "word" spec at the moment....no pictures released.

See here

Importers no longer able to order MY02. Taking orders for MY03 but unable to give definate deliv dates at the moment - should be firmed up over the next couple of weeks.

You'll notice your local SEAT dealer doing good deals on showroom stock at the moment......

Gza - 1st broker quote I've seen for the "Leon Cupra R" here too.

You'll obviously get it cheaper still going direct, but this is with full UK std spec (18" wheels, brembos etc).

Bit more than 12K.....but thought I'd whet your appetite anyway

I personally like the look of the RHD Toledo TDI 150.

Upgrade to 17" wheels, and get an Upsolute Remap to 182bhp / 312lbs.ft (conservative figures) for less than £300. And it'll still average 50mpg, with pittance insuance too!

Yummy.

How about an imported Mini Cooper S?

They've got to be around the 12k mark, going by the level of discount you can get on the current cooper.
