Might try and get up Blyton sometime soon too?

When do you think yours will be done?
You leaving it as a convertible now!?!
Did you get a turbo inlet pipe sorted as I am having one made down at Lincoln if you are interested in one?

leecalcars 12 July 2011 11:55 AM

Yes mate definatly interested how much mate and who's making them

C8 DHC 04WRX 12 July 2011 09:45 PM

Should hopefully know more on the hoses by the end of the week.

This is the place that is making them:

After some thought we decided that a one piece design would probably be best - something like this:

Door cards to fit and order Teflon braided fuel hoses .

Still need to get hold of a roof skin to reinstate glass windows to finally seal the car from dust !!

Carbon wrap should be here tommorow to wrap switch panel ready for trip to mike downs auto electrician for rewire which is booked in on the 5th September after his trip in his skyline to the nurburg ring(should have been going ;-(
So plenty to do again this weekend pics to follow

leecalcars 15 July 2011 08:41 PM

100A Battery cut off switch and indicator ready to fit into switch panel tommorow and also my bubble free carbon wrap has finally arrived to cover the aluminium switch panel.

Bonnet in for paint next week black like the boot was going to wrap it but il see how it turns out then i can fit the reverse scoop and vents that have been painted months ago.

leecalcars 16 July 2011 05:46 PM

Had a delvery of 3D bubble free carbon wrap so thought i would have a go on my aluminium switch panel ,quite enjoyed doing it actually practised on this first ready for roof when it comes.

Having totally stripped the car of excess weight ,and fitting a roll cage and adding this that and the other im not exactly sure what its going to come in at but would hope for a signifacant gain of power to weight ratio.

When everything is fitted and the car has a full geomtry set up i can then disclose its final weight.
With the setup i currently have i would hope for 350/350 maybe more but this is only the beginning for what i have planned.

C8 DHC 04WRX 17 July 2011 10:47 PM

When do you think your car will be ready for action?

leecalcars 18 July 2011 08:18 PM

Not sure Dan as im hopefully working away in spain for 5 mths in a few weeks time , wont be coming home till xmas but il have plenty of cash to carry on and finally finish this project, but i suppose it never ends there is always something to do, but would be hoping to get on track early next year.

If i dont go away then definatley back end of the summer for testing at blyton.

leecalcars 19 July 2011 08:25 PM

Cheers mate after 2 classic impreza's firstly my type r ,and now this project i have had 3 standered inlet pipes split on me ,so hopefully this samco will last and not collapse under boost pressure.

I would say,can collapse but this will depends on boost which you will run at future,i was run like you Samco inlet silicone pipe, but now i'm switching to hard inlet pipe from IC pipework, which will not collapse under boost.

leecalcars 19 July 2011 10:25 PM

yes understand your thoughts ,but for now this is better upgrade from buying standered as mentioned before.

Long term definatley go hard inlet for high boost

leecalcars 22 July 2011 10:09 AM

I borrowed some aluminium brackets that the ceiling fixers use to hang there suspended ceiling off to use as brackets to fasten the side panels of the switch plate under the dash.

Using some black Allen bolts about 5mm to fasten the plate to the brackets and still looks ok , if I had use of an aluminium welding plant this would have been a better option but didn't so fine with this anyway.

Pics up later tnite

inlet manifold has to come of again to fit new samco inlet pipe as I can't get it under si will probebly go with 10mm spacers which will improve on inlet temps .

leecalcars 22 July 2011 07:19 PM

Had a good few hrs down the garage I took the inlet off pics up later

leecalcars 22 July 2011 08:14 PM

As i have renewed the inlet pipe it wouldn't go in with the manifold in place plus the fact i knew it had a slight crack in it on one of the legs so i knew it would have to be replaced so i disconnected everything and off it came .

I am fitting parrallell fuel rails so decided to ring a good friend of mine Brian Hughs who is a subaru god... and proved that, when he brought me a spare manifold he had.

thanks mate and a good price too !

This saved me some time as it is now stripped ready for painting after i have ground away a couple of lugs on the underside that may catch the inlet pipe a cause abrassions to the new intake pipe.

As you can see in the picture it has a small crack in it which would cause problems if gets any worse so took it off to be sure.
While the manifold was off it gave me chance to link together the two heater pipes as im not using the heater matrix anymore .
Aswell as easily fitting the intake pipe i was reliably informed if i turned the vacuum pipe around on the t piece i could return it to the middle breather doing away with excess pipework to the dump valve aswell ready for new catch can.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../manifold2.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...s/manifold.jpg

You can see the crack in the manifold at the bottom of one of the legs

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../manifold1.jpg

I then cut the two heater pipes and joined together

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../manifold4.jpg

With the new inlet pipe fitted the manifold with new 10mm spacers will be fitted when sprayed in crinckle paint not sure on colour yet any ideas ?

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../manifold7.jpg

leecalcars 22 July 2011 08:27 PM

I drilled 5mm holes ready for black allen bolts to fasten the brackets to mount the side panels for switch plate

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/leecalcars/swp.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ars/swp3-1.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ars/swp4-1.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ars/swp5-1.jpg

Same to do the other side then fasten the front plate with removable screws the ready to fit switches and isolator cut off switch

leecalcars 23 July 2011 07:39 PM

Fitted the other side panel today

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ars/swp6-1.jpg

Then mounted the front plate and fixed in place with 100A isolator switch and indicator

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...lcars/swp8.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...lcars/swp9.jpg

More switches to go in 2 pump switches plus indicators, hazard warning ,push button start, new fuse board etc..

I then brushed acid over the inlet manifold to remove all the grease and muck that has attached itself over the years ,it was then taken to CJ Powder Coatings and a colour was chosen for powder coat think it'll look good when finished.

gurn 23 July 2011 09:50 PM

looking good fella.

Ive just had a crinkle black inlet put on....... and it looks good!!

leecalcars 23 July 2011 10:10 PM

Going for powder coated instead and have chose a colour very similar to samco blue.

show me a pic of your crinkle black mate.

JonMc 23 July 2011 10:12 PM

Coming together nicely, doing a carbon wrapped switch panel myself, but nothing so extravagant:thumb:

jura11 23 July 2011 10:15 PM

Agree this Kill switch looking so nice, something similar i'm planning, looking spot on.
