why, were you?

Davros 1979 28 July 2008 12:49 PM

Not yet. The letter for duty normally comes a few days after the parcel.

When I bought my AVCR from the US I thort I had got away with it but then a couple of days later I got the letter. The tax cost wasnt too bad it was the £15 for admin!!

Have had mine for 11 or 12 days (but mine are in France) and some of the others got theirs before me and I haven’t heard of any problems so far :thumb:

Nolan_WRX 29 July 2008 12:05 AM

Had mine today, look good.
just a question to those who have already fitted them with the gaugeplace adaptors from Nick, are the oil temp and pressure sensors tight going into the adaptors?
They seem to go in half way and are very tight then, dont want to force them or over tighten them and destroy the threads thats all. plus with the oil temp the probe doesnt go in past the end of the adaptor with it only gong in half way.
anyone elses like this?

And with the button on the gauges, they seem to be lose and rattle, but it works fine and clicks when you press it and it doesnt look like it will fal out just a bit loose thats all, anyone else's like this?

Hi yeah the threads are a little tight at first. I used a little PTFE tape on all the threads and used a reasonable amount of pressure on standard size spanners but nothing overboard ;) just keep going until it tightens up firm.
I think the temp adaptor went in almost flush with the end of the adaptor again firm pressure on the spanner (the smaller spanner if you are using two) but not straining.
The faces on my gauges looked and feel loose too but they don’t rattle or cause an issue if you put a little pressure to one side just be careful not to spin the gauge by the fronts you may damage the switch.
Glad they are starting to come through :thumb:

dazzlers82 29 July 2008 01:34 AM

as above mate use a little ptfe tape but only on the thread make sure none covers the hole or can go down through the hole (blocking oil ways)
an the threads are tapered so they will tighten up they do not need to go flush an if you try to get them flush they will probably strip the thread so just tighten them firmly an run car to check for leaks

and im hoping my new set will arrive tommorow:thumb:

Davros 1979 29 July 2008 09:51 AM

Yeah the buttons on mine are loose too. They rattled when I move them around. Luckily I cant hear them when driving.

:iamwithst I've bought that dash mount too... How was it to fit?

Just waiting for my gauges.... hopefully here tomorrow... :D

Nolan_WRX 30 July 2008 12:28 AM

it is just held by two screws on the top, the original has 2 clips on the bottom , but this hasnt, sits in there just fine tho. the fit inst perfect, it doesnt come all the way to the edge on the right if you can see and towards the bottom as well, but you dont really notice when its in.
Its a bit of a fiddle to get the cables tidy, i joined some of the cables that came with the gauges to daisy chain them all together, it turned out ok.
gotta find another permanent live to power them and fit the senders in the engine bay and will be done.

Nolan_WRX 30 July 2008 06:08 PM

Can one of you guys explain how to fit the boost gauge in the engine bay. do you connect to the original boost solonoid? if so where does the tubing go to from this and what does it T off onto?

Flib 30 July 2008 06:38 PM

you can T into the small pipe that goes to the top of your dump valve

Flib 30 July 2008 07:35 PM

Anybody done a idiots guide for fitting 05 blobeye wrx.:wonder: :cuckoo:

Nolan_WRX 30 July 2008 11:06 PM

Right im a bit lost with the boost gauge, done the other 2, they are working spot on.
i get the sender cable should tap into the 3 wires from the boost sensor which i assume is this:
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...n/DSC00941.jpg

Now i dont get what the extra tubing is for or the t piece, as the thing above is already connected to the manifold and senses boost for the apexi i have, so i would have thought i would just need to tap into the 3 cables (red, white, black) and that would be it?
any thoughts please guys?

I would use both senders, use the T pice and a little of the clear tubing and connect it the black tubing in the pic :thumb:

Nolan_WRX 31 July 2008 06:24 PM

Both senders? did you have one with the gauge kit?
