Looks good. Out of curiosity did you expect the extra lugs to be blanked and if so did you not consider removing them before getting it all powder coated:wonder:

leecalcars 28 July 2011 07:03 PM

I did grined off the lugs underneath the manifold to make changing the inlet pipe easier while it's in place, not sure which lugs your talking about !

leecalcars 28 July 2011 07:05 PM

Ah just clicked, the lugs have small pieces of tape over them to stop powder coating going into threads..this i will remove when i refit it all with new bolts etc..

leecalcars 29 July 2011 06:27 PM

Started to remove the masking tape they used to blank of inlets and fastening holes ,after this was powder coated it went rock hard and was difficult and time consumming to get off ,just have to fine clean surfaces ready for inlet spacers .

I then started to rebuild the manifold ready for fitting to heads.

Also fitted some dtm mirrors not a bad improvment for the price I paid for them

CJ's powder coated my mates manifold, taped up as yours.

It looked clean inside but they media blast it before coating and there will be blasting residue inside. If you havnt already wash out the inside and blow out with a high pressure airline to be sure. My mates engine lasted 15miles..................

2 grand later I had rebuilt it, be warned.

Cuddy will probs remember it as he picked it up to diagnose the failure to start.
It had zero compression on all cylinders, ouch :brickwall

Yes he mentioned it thats why i cleaned first with acid then washed off and specifically asked them prior to painting not to blast it with shot for that same reason but yes to be sure i will clean thourghly and blow out any pieces that may have gathered inside ,thanks

Had a day tidying a few bits up , doorcards fitted ,hoovered it out it was getting a little messy in there, also re-routed cables and connected pump.

I then drilled and riveted a few more clips to take braided fuel lines and carried on with the silver tape sealing all the holes.

Next on my small list was to measure and cut a template for passenger foot plate ,this was done with 10mm plastic heated up along the crease and bent to the angle i needed, this will now go away to be made from aluminium should look good when finished.

what are your plans for the roof

leecalcars 14 August 2011 06:01 PM

Think i have sourced one from scotland just waiting for the guy to carefully remove it so i can send a courier to pick it up but heard nothing !

Failing that i will find a breakers yard and remove it myself im not prepared to spend £500 on a new roof !!!!!!

I was going to carbon wrap it or may even spray it not sure yet
