Maybe your Ying-Yong Ditch-finders are spinning on your wheels and slowing you down? Worth looking into just in case! :D |

It's like for like...you e used STi parts to get STi power havnt you?

Oh dear. I think in one (albeit slightly garbled) reply, you may have summarised rs_matt's efforts to date perfectly and put a close to the WRX vs STI argument he has been pushing for years. Love it! :D |

I don't need 350/350 in a WRX to trouble higher powered cars that's the beauty of the "poverty spec" ;) Anyway tyres on and wow. Braking seems better at high speed, still get the abs needlessly kicking in a low speeds. Having never bothered with decent tyres in my whole life I'm quite startled at how violently the car now throws me into corner, it gets to the point were the budget tyres would have been braking traction then the Nankang's suddenly jerk the car in. Lads at the fitting centre said they'd never seen anything like them. Attachment 33560 Attachment 33561 |

Yeah mate. Make a huge difference, even at normal speeds you can feel the car become rigid if the road camber changes etc.

You don't know whether people were just racing for the win or actually trying to set a time. When I did my 12.4, I was racing my mates most of the day, not racing for times. I think I did the 12.4 against Paul in his Type R, Andy F mapped 2.5L running about 440/440. SteveBT's blob STI was running around similar power. I only beat Steve because he was fcuking around with his launch control whilst he was staged. You're too hung up on times. Steve's has done a 10s run, not with him driving though, IIRC. In a straight race, I'd piss all over you in my never remapped, practically standard car. Some more perspective.

It'll do an 11 second run.....oh wait
So matt needs to save half a second but cannot launch properly due to his poverty gearbox. So in summary all matts you tube watching and talking crap has ended in an epic fail . He could save some weight by taking off all the STi styling bits but then the kids will know he's poor and got a wrx . |

My wrx will do 11 seconds if I fit loads of sti bits too it..oh hold on it won't so I'll make it handle better because the brakes are rubbish...better fit sti brembos....but they are heavy that's why the WRX has comedy brakes.....:lol1::lol1: |
The Irony is that Brembo calipers are actually far lighter than the heavy steel WRX calipers, but Matt is just too tight to put brakes that actually work on his modified car. He'd rather drive it with dangerous with old brakes that are not up to stopping the car at it's increased horsepower level.

Biggest meltdown, Tom after seeing I beat his time with 100bhp less or Kwik after seeing my private reg? Micky did you back your 12.46 up?

Yes. Sold my 2006 WRX calipers to someone as an upgrade on his classic when I upgraded my car to brembos. Meant the overall outlay was very little. Well worth doing.
