leecalcars 25 August 2011 06:10 PM

me too bud !

Took the bonnet into immingham spray bay today for small repair on front corner and paint in matt black looking forward to finally fitting this next week sometime, they are printing off a few graphics for me aswell so watch this space.

Awaiting delivery of sabel steering wheel and quick release boss harnesses and seats to follow atlast will have somewhere to sit instead of being pushed around on a crate!!!

leecalcars 26 August 2011 10:04 PM

Had a rainy day down the garage today getting ready for tommorow as im driving to pick up a roof atlast and going in for paint with my bonnet on thursday, matching the boot in matt black can finally start fitting the reverse scoop and vents that was painted what seems a lifetime ago !

First was to get the screens out of storage and a gave them a good clean ,removing the old glue that was left behind after removing the rear tint this again was a nightmare but after doing all the side windows had the nak down to a tee just a bit time consuming.

Next on the list was a few small jobs like refitting the power steering pump and belt to the alternator, refitting the oxygen sensor and reconnecting it,also fitted the induction kit and made sure all clamps were tightened.

I have ordered an MSA plumbed in fire extinguisher that will be fitted next week when it arrives its a complete kit with pull cords and associated brackets to fit where the rear seats where once was.
I have decided at this stage in my project to relocate the battery behind the passenger seat so a nice red battery box is ordered for this as with extra cable to connect to engine compartment supplies.

Awaiting delivery of sabel steering wheel and harnesses ordered from dave garrett top bloke and great prices would definatley recommend buying from him thanks for the information on a quick release boss.

So hopefully sometime next week the roof will back on and auto windscreens will be down to re-instate the front and rear screens sealing the car from dust !!!!
Extinguisher and battery isol stickers to fit on bonnet and i have atlast got a design together for side graphics all will be revealed in a few weeks hope you like.

Hi Lee,

Nice to finally meet you.

Car is coming along well. I like the cage, and the blue/white contrast, and the rear wing - i need one of those!

Should be an excellent track car when its completed.

Dill

leecalcars 27 August 2011 07:00 PM

Cheers Dill had another busy day since 8am this morning went across to hull to subaruspares.com who had cut off a roof for me ,only problem was i have had to cut the skin off it myself which yet again has proved to be a nightmare, so if anyone wants me to do one for them its a grand yes 1k and il do it lol.....some pics of the day nearly finished it then il offer it up and mark underneath where the roll cage is and im going to cut out a hole so i can mount a roof vent to let some air into the cockpit before it goes away for paint on thursday matt black and white underneath to match interior.

now off to find a roof vent !

loving it !

JonMc 27 August 2011 07:15 PM

Looking good, rather you than me though:eek:

Good luck finding the vent, they seem to be quite a popular mod so get snapped up quite quickly:wonder:

leecalcars 27 August 2011 08:01 PM

Keeps me out of the pub....!

All the vents i have seen are for show ie just bonded on what use is that...!

I may have to look for a vent that is specific for another make of vehicle the one on the hyundai rally car in the workshop is spot on and it does the job intended.

Lol.

The roof job looks like a right PITA.

What do you do to cover all the holes that have been made to drill the spot welds?

I take it you just attacked it with an angle grinder at the breakers?

Hi mate, the breakers in hull cut it off were i asked them too so i could get it in the car this morning.
The spot weld holes that have been drilled out to remove it will be filled with bonding agent once its ready to re fit and will be sealed off im going to replace to 4 bolt brackets that hold the trim in place these will secondry secure the roof to the bodywork if you come down the garage next week mate il show you what i mean all will become apparant when you see next time.

leecalcars 28 August 2011 03:27 PM

Spent a couple of hours on the roof today and finally i have it off and ready for paint.

Thanks to dave who has kindley volountered to paint the underside of the roof white for me and mask off, for exterior colour at the paint shop (matt black).

need to organise auto windscreens to pay me a visit to re-fit front and rear screens once the roof has been sticker flexed in place.

leecalcars 29 August 2011 12:38 PM

Roof now painted white inside thanks to my mate dave who i dragged out of bed with a vodka hangover!!!!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../roofwhite.jpg

now ready to go for paint on tuesday

JonMc 29 August 2011 02:49 PM

There's no hole in it though:wonder:

leecalcars 29 August 2011 03:25 PM

Not yet dont know the size to drill as he hasnt emailed me yet ?

Struggling to get information on these roof vents and size of hole to cut out ,not a problem as i have a couple of days before they paint it on thursday.

leecalcars 29 August 2011 05:44 PM

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...oofinwhite.jpg

Interior of roof has had 3 coates of white to match interior ready to go away to paint shop tommorow for topside in matt black .

Still awaiting info on size of hole to cut for roof vent i'd rather wait till i have correct size than jump in and cut it to big or in the wrong place ,this will be done after with a dremmel and masking off of the roof so as not to mark it .

leecalcars 30 August 2011 07:52 PM

I noticed that the small water cross over pipe near the front bottom of the engine just under manifold was rotten good job i caught it when i did as this had small holes in it where the rust had set in so changed this for a new one.

Next i had to attack the steering coloumn, to get rid of all the unwanted brackets and wiring, ignition barrel, steering lock ...

The steering lock proved to be a pain but he who strikes the last blow shall win !

pics of my day

photobucket down il upload later

Well i cancelled the order with jjc as i found a system they were selling with a 1.75ltr hand extinguisher for an extra £20 so bought that instead ,anyhow it came today so was eager to get it out the box hand held first no problems opened the bigger box an **** it went off,all over the kitchen floor i had just cleaned.
Some numpty hadn't put the safety pin in the hole and it let go all in the box.

Wasn't happy so rang them straight away and they are going to replace it asap.

Good service but a simple mistake trying to rush getting orders out,but happy off the outcome.

Fuel lines ordered, fuel rails sourced an6 fittings purchased just need to find some 550cc injectors nowthen exhaust a remap whoo hoooo!!!!
