shreksta....Not many cars can get away with running such a big blower in standard fitment and it actually work mate, you would need some serious supporting mods and mega boost to make the thing even come to life.;)

Kev`s 22b was one car,and in fact the only car i know of that could run a massive turbo in standard position "SC54 billet in this case" which is the biggest SC turbo ever made, and actually make the thing perform.

But you have to take into account his car had a 2.35 engine with sti version 4 ported and polished heads with WRC profile cams fitted, thats enough to make any turbo sit up and beg, lol.;)

Attachment 53430

Kev`s car with results showing the original SC54 billet and the new SC50 billet overlayed, the newer smaller SC50 matching the bigger turbo all the way, both in standard position...WHAT A CAR.;)

Hi Glen,

thanks for your input. :thumb:

I would also add that spool on the SC54 and 50 Billet on the dyno wasn’t as good as expected on my car, however it was far from a lag monster on the road and this was due to the final drive I was running, something that again gets forgotten by a lot of tuners and modifiers.

Cheers
Kev

Well picked it up, holy shiz!!!!! On the road the spool feels so much better comes in alot earlier and feels stronger. Back to back shows a good improvement but you can really feel it when driving it. Well worth the upgrade :D

Cheers to clinic and the boys for sorting it :)

Glad ya happy with it tidge, cant beat a 2.5 for a fast road car imo.;)

Thankfully, just like Steve Austin, "...EJ25 barely alive, but we have the power to rebuild it..."

;)

any graph for a 2.35 with sc50 in twin scroll config?

WhiteWagonMan 13 January 2014 11:01 AM

Hmmmm thats a strange combo matey, dont think i`ve ever seen a twin scroll SC50/2.35 graph and i certainly dont have one in my collection.

And most cars with 2.35 engines tend to be at the heart of a rotated setup apart from from kev`s 22b which has always been the test bed for the SC turbo range,he may have one from his car but doubtfull tbh.:wonder:

MrNoisy 14 January 2014 07:05 AM

Interested to know Kev - is that 480+ figure on V-Power alone for the SC42!?
Just intrigued to know how you've extracted that from a turbo rated to 420 on a standard block with barely any mods, or was that with a 20% meth mix?
My existing SC42 did 439 last year, and more recently 426, both on V-Power only, but 480 is a big step up from that.
If 390 is the "at the wheels" figure too that's a very impressive change and I'd be enquiring to possibilities of upgrading my unit.

joz8968 14 January 2014 05:07 PM

MN, see Kev's post #4555 (page 152). :)

And that is the latest SC42 Billet PLUS. Just in case you overlooked that.

That said, it is an incredible figure on a 2.0 and V-P only!!

gussy 15 January 2014 08:49 AM

If it will be/is, then I'm tempted too. As I already have in my possession OEM Spec-C headers/up-pipe/sump/baffles, etc.

All I've got to get is get a H&S custom GC8 TS d/p (and bigger injectors), and get JGM to work his magic. :D :notworthy

.......................Then look on as the car subsequently blows up LOL!

Gussy that one is the old SC42 TS mate, the + version has a newly designed internal plenum and exhaust housing, and im not sure if a twin scroll version is even available in the 42+ as of yet.:wonder:

Looks spot on the 42+
I was under the impression that Fuds billet T/S SC42 was also using parts off the SC46 it still gave very good numbers tho which will be fine for me in my lightweight classic :)

ScoobyDoo69 15 January 2014 01:01 PM

That is a very pretty turbo!

The Gaffer 15 January 2014 01:46 PM

Hi,

the SC42 Billet + DID produce 485 BHP on V power, the cars mods were injectors, alcatek ecu, GT spec headers, de cat and a massive hyperflow monster inter-cooler which buggered spool a bit and yes we did bang some boost into it to see if the housing choked up, and it didn’t. :thumb:

The Sc42 + billet is now on a race car being thrashed to destruction, so far so good so we are going into production with these, I would imagine it will be a couple of months before we have them in stock. :D

I would also point out the test was carried out on our own STI car NOT a customers car. :nono:

Thanks to Glen for the piccy, saved me a job. ;)

Cheers
Kev

joz8968 15 January 2014 02:58 PM

Only BLOKES would drool over a lump of metal called a turbo. ;)

We're all a bit simple TBH. :cuckoo: :D

LOL

joz8968 15 January 2014 03:00 PM

Kev, any future plans for T.S. variants of the 42+ and 46+?

Also, will there be any plans for a OEM position SC50+ (presumably S.S. only)?

Hi,

no plans re twin scroll versions at the moment, simply not enough demand.

We are soon to test the SC46 Billet + and the Sc50 billet + will keep you up to date as and when it happens.

Cheers
Kev

Tidgy 16 January 2014 08:01 AM

kev whats the difference between the + and none + version, is it just the latest revision or is it aimed as more power than the base spec one?

The Gaffer 17 January 2014 03:06 PM

Hi,

in answer to the question raised by "Tidgy", the billet wheels aero has evolved over the years with the billet comp wheels flowing more and more air.

This has allowed us over the last few years to reduce the size of the wheel giving us better spool with no loss of power. ;)

The Billet + versions have been under test for a while now and have been available as special order, soon they will be available off the shelf. :thumb:

The wheel is 3mm bigger on the exducer and was developed for people who are looking for a little more power but not the next leap, say from an SC42 to an SC46 billet, or from an SC46 to an SC50. :)

We only recommend the SC42Billet + turbo for 2.0 or 2.1 ltr engines, any one with a forged 2.5 should go straight for the SC46 Billet. ;)

We do have a new SC46 Billet + turbo which we will test on our new demo car which will be running a fully forged 2.5 block which we have carried out the CDB mod to so we can push it a bit. :D

see pic here...............

Attachment 53352

note it hasnt been re bored yet and I know the bores are scored.

Cheers
Kev

Tidgy 17 January 2014 05:43 PM

so will the + replace that standard version or is the plan to have both and chose the best suited?

Markfey 17 January 2014 06:56 PM

Been following this thread for years now :)

AJ is currently building me a 2.1 CDB for my V4 STi classic. It has all supporting mods currently required and if it doesn't, it will have them (I'm not loaded, just been working on it for 6 years).
MJ will be doing the mapping on a SIMTEK 2 - GEMS (Steve SIMPSON).

The block is being built for the capability of 600bhp, however, i'm a little more realistic and was hoping for high 4's.

I'm edging towards the SC46+ (Because you just can't help getting caught up in the bhp chasing). On this setup would you still recommend the SC42+ when they're available?
