The 2.5`s make the best fast road car imo as the torque is on the button no matter what gear your in,and they do drive really nice.;)

As for the uppipe mate, the RCM venturi uppipe`s seem to come into there own on very big power cars say 500bhp and upwards, below this figure(WHICH IS APPROXIMATE BTW) they tend to be too big on the bore size thus affecting spool and torque.

Below this figure i personally dont think the harvey uppipe can be beaten, especially on 2.0ltr cars that usually suffer from lack of spool and torque due to lack of displacement, had one on mine for years now pal and its an awesome bit of kit.:thumb:

Ok, sounds good.

CP Pistons
Eagle rods
ACL bearings
ARP headstuds
FMIC
Tomei Equal length header
APS 3,5" exhaust
1000cc injectors
Autronic SM4 PnP Ecu

As said earlier, stock -03 sti heads and camshafts.
Does the heads flow enough for about 500whp?

What exhaust housing is to recommend 0.63 or 0.82?

You'd be better off all round on the .63 housing. The heads will flow enough, however replacing the cams would certainly help the situation. I believe I'm right in saying Scoobyclinic sell a Spec C style cam set :thumb:

Thank you.

I will check with the clinic if they have any cams.
Then i use 0.63 and post my results later :D

Tidgy 21 February 2014 01:19 PM

what size housing is on mine kev?

ATWRX 21 February 2014 10:36 PM

Hi I'm putting a forged 2.5 lump in my Blob STi, I want a turbo which will be best suited for fast road use and every day driving, ie good spool characteristics and please type of power/torque. Which would be best suited? SC42,46,50? And what sort of power would they be good for in reality? Obviously billet turbo, no point in going non billet. :lol1:

Mods will be, fully forged and pinned 2.5, AVCS heads from my car, 3" catless system, 1000cc injectors, FMIC, induction kit, tubular headers and a matching up pipe for the turbo of choice. I forget if there's anything else :D

Tidgy 22 February 2014 09:58 AM

sc46 mate, the new one is epic :)

WhiteWagonMan 22 February 2014 10:02 AM

SC46 would my choice with a forged 2.5,mid to high 400`s should be easily achievable as long as there isnt anything on the car holding the turbo back, and it should spool really well especially with avcs heads.;)

Hi running 2.5 on Syvec (JGM mapped) with SC46billet, Older one but with a new cast exh housing (7.5cm i think) last year and Harvey uppipe, Made around 465 Vpower, 501 20% meth@ 1.6boost, 520 20%meth @ 1.7boost
Not been too pleased with spool up (1bar @ 3800rpm and full boost @ 4200rpm) would switching back to the RCM venturi help?
Or would a New SC46 be a better bet?
Thanks

Thanks Tidgy, so thats 500rpm improvement with the new SC46, nice.

Still need to know if there is and how much of an improvement going back to the RCM venturi uppipe at 500bhp+

Is there any difference between the SC Billet GT30R and the GTX3076R?

abc555 26 February 2014 11:16 PM

Yes, the comp wheel is different and i think you ll find it will spool better as a result.

It was exactly what I wanted to hear.
GTX3076R says everyone is a bad combination comp vs turbine.
I thought I have read somewhere that it is their own comp wheel on the SC turbo.

I'm also running forged 2.5 and sc46. I've got both a havey and RCM up pipe sat here. Which one do I use that is the question??????

Tidgy 16 March 2014 05:23 PM

sell rcm, use harvey's ;)

MrNoisy 16 March 2014 06:59 PM

Tidgy are you still on a TMIC?

joe v3sti 16 March 2014 07:06 PM

Tidge I keep hearing this, but someone throws a spanner in the works and suggests that the RCM is better grrrrr!

sonic93 16 March 2014 07:20 PM

Joe Harvey uppipe is the one dude

It is when you go silly power mate, sub 500 stick with the harvey pipe,my car has a standard 2.0ltr engine under the bonnet and standard version 5/6 non avcs heads.;)

Check my graph in the garage and see the way it spools and where it spools, the trick harvey uppipe is the key to this as 2.0ltr cars dont normally perform that well through the mid range.:thumb:

MrNoisy 18 March 2014 08:06 AM

I'm surprised none of you mention the other upside to the Harvey pipe which is that it's slip jointed. Tubular headers when mated to the Venturi pipes apparently have a habit of cracking and blowing because the standard Venturi pipe is solid with no play to allow for the vibration of the engine and can cause the headers to crack or warp around the up pipe connection.
Harvey one is slip jointed so you shouldn't get that issue.

wrx9181 18 March 2014 09:45 AM

Yep agreed
I had sc46 on standard 04 car setup fitting the Harvey gear really transformed the drive

p1junkie 26 March 2014 04:56 PM

Hi Kev just sent you a pm re my rotated turbo kit i purchased recently

powered by vodka 01 April 2014 08:06 PM

This is on a 2.0 ltr STI bug eye running a FMIC, on shell V power, we didn’t bother with road test as the turbo is coming off and vehicle returning to standard, spool would be expected to be around 500 RPM earlier on the road. :thumb:

Think we have a winner here, wonder what the SC46 Billet + is going to do. :norty:

Cheers
Kev

Any updates on the SC46 billet +?

Were the results of the SC42 billet + not a little lean on boost?
What would you expect to see at safe AFR (approx. 11.1) and around 1.6 bar boost?

TH3_5T1G 17 April 2014 09:27 AM

So the SC46+ is now available off the shelf?

Kev, are there any comparisons back to back on a SC42+ and SC46+

Torn between the two on a 2.0l newage V9
