Shaun, I'm not into gauges and stuff but been to 5 Subaru "rolling road days" at different venues due to the Social aspect ;) Generally get between 340-355 bhp and 350 ish lbs Torque.

I went to an "MLR Evo" rolling road day in Gloucester, it only produced 305-320bhp  but like you say, it had a fan at front of car and bonnet slightly up for boost pressure reading. It didn't take a rocket scientist to work out Charge temperatures where way too High. ;) but still went to Litchfields (just up the road) to check, my bum dyno and Iains computer confirmed car was going GREAT :D

Ps Iain and my brain said to go for the LM400 my balls said LM500 :D

Hi Shaun,
The problem is that most people don't have a clue as to what their ACT's are because they have no means of monitoring them. My experience is that well before 400 bhp on the STi 8 TMIC there is an advantage going to a Hybrid FMIC (GT). This is not just from dyno results but from driving on the road and the dyno results actually emulate the road experience. Sure you can use an STi 8 TMIC for 450 bhp but my assessment is that you would have been better off changing to a front mount some time long before that.
As keen as I am to test as many things as I can it all takes time and some times it is unproductive time so there is a limit to what I have been able to do but I am happy with everything that I have done and the results and conclusions I have gathered.

Shaun 20 May 2010 08:12 PM

Hi Harvey,
I appreciate all the testing you have done (you have gained a lot of useful data) in the past and continue to do... it is an approach that I have tried myself where ever possible (as you say, it costs time and money unfortunately). I certainly don't discount the benefits that a FMIC can provide..... you won't see a TMIC in my engine bay! :D

Hi Tony,
Imagine what you would be like if Litcho bought a Rolling Road!!! You may even take my "Dyno Queen" trophy! :D

Follow the advice of your balls..... that philosophy has gone OK for me so far! :D

Is anyone else having delays from Turbo Dynamics in getting these???

TimH 04 June 2010 07:42 AM

Delays and Turbo Dynamics are the norm IME :(

StanS 04 June 2010 08:42 AM

Been waiting since it was ordered in March :(
Was told delay due to casting snafu.
Allegedly should be available end of next week or week of 14th.

stanmo 04 June 2010 08:55 AM

Ditto - are TD by any chance supplying the unit for the CS400 ?

Exactly the same time as me!!! And I've been told by RCM (who I'm getting mine through) the same thing, but they have been saying that for the past 3-4 weeks!

Starting to get a bit nervous as the turnaround time for me being in NZ if anything goes wrong looks to be quite long...

Apparantly :)

stanmo 04 June 2010 01:16 PM

that speaks volumes....I guess it'll bear a certain resemblance?

Could it be faster to wait for a far eastern clone to come out, and 'Buy It Now' on ebay ? :-)

LitchfieldImports 04 June 2010 03:43 PM

Our new batch of 50 units arrived from the machine shop to TD today and they have been sent out to be ceramic coated. We expect to see the first ones back by the end of the week :) Thanks for your patience!

I don't think it is TD that are supplying Cosworth.

Iain,

Do you have a 400bhp kit for a single scroll MY05 STi Uk?

Tony

StanS 04 June 2010 07:12 PM

A- haaaaaaaaa !!!
If they are putting people's names on each one, that's probably why its taking so long

StanS 03 July 2010 10:42 PM

Update on mine.
In spite of every effort made by Alan/Iain to work out a solution, sadly the 480-70 will not physically fit on a 2.5 UK/Euro Sti Hatch.:( The inlet manifold fouls the 76mm ported shroud air intake pipe/run even considering liberal use of grinders, or raising manifold ! No doubt that Iain or Alan will come up with a fix in time .... Sadly the "best before" date on my project is past, so an "instant" fix needs to be found.
100% effort made by TD to get Alan a 60mm intake to see if that will physically fit. With luck, we may know Monday.
Concerned that my target of the engine being capable of a comfortable 480 at 1.6-1.7bar (like TimH's) may not be achievable now if it has to use the smaller housing :(

TimH 03 July 2010 11:05 PM

That's a real shame Stan. It's bl**dy tight on my car tbh, but does, just about, fit.

What's the difference then, as I would have thought the engine bay's are similar?

Jolly Green Monster 03 July 2010 11:37 PM

the inlet manifold is different

TimH 03 July 2010 11:39 PM

Ah, yes...JDM have no tumbler thingies...and, of course, Iain's experience and expertise is with JDMs.

Just thought Id mention what an amazing set up this new twin scroll turbo is from Litchfields. Had the pleaseure of a passenger ride in Mel's Hawkeye Spec C (with this turbo) on Saturday & OMG words cannot do its performance justice. 450bhp in twin scroll form, in a Spec C is something that has to be experienced to fully appreciate. The sheer, raw, hard acceleration from very little revs; the seamless gearchange & seemingly endless revs & power & the overall package is outstanding. But when driving slowly around town it still behaves like an OEM easy to live with car. (ps not that Mel knows anything about that!!! lol :D )

Hats off to Iain @ Litchfield Imports :thumb: & Mel I want fist refusal if you ever want to sell!!!!!........................I knew I should never have sold my Spec C :(
