Ricky, thanks for the comments, i've pm'd you my email to send over those pics.

Kenny,

Yep on standard internals for now, but hopefully towards end of the year early next will rebuild the engine to a 2.1 and add a bit of strength and peace of mind lol.
But will leave the turbo as its plenty fast enough as it is, anymore and think it may spoil the drivability i have now.
As its very exploitable on the track at the mo, just need to uprate the handling a bit more and better brakes and then i will have my perfect spec.

3 MORE DAYS TO GO :D

MelTypeR 15 July 2010 05:29 PM

Well guys,

Car went back to JGM today as the last couple of weeks it wasnt running right.
Especially at the last rolling road day, it was down on power at only 416bhp and 327lb/ft, so something def werent right!!!.

So after a bit of investigation the FRP seems to have either gone or had an intermittent issue.
This dropped the fueling and made the car run dangerously lean, (well spotted Rich aka Fiestaboy).

So after a bit of fettling and a tweak here and there on the map the car is now running even better then before and even a bonus of more power :D:D

Car is now running 460.9bhp and 425 lb/ft @ 1.7bar

So hats off to JGM for sorting out the car and even more so to Iain for producing such an amazing turbo!!!

Lol im now gonna re-name it from the LM450-S60 to the LM460-S60 :D

Mel

p.s. i'll get the graphs scanned in later today and post them up.

rickya 15 July 2010 06:19 PM

Well done mate, 460 bhp twin scroll ;)

T5NYW 15 July 2010 07:36 PM

ITS @@@@@@@@@ AWESOME

back out in it now BYE :hjtwofing

but before i go

i think for you Tech heads, Iain said, 400bhp easy about 1.65 bar boost, and max boost 1.75bar. It still at 1,55bar at 7,000rpm but I probably got it all mixed up because of the Drive home

This is just far too quick for the road and these TOYO T1R's 18"s are just not up to the job

Big Thanks to Iain and Mat :notworthy

Tony

Ps give you a better update once the Tanks empty or just another tank of Play ;)

johnfelstead 15 July 2010 08:19 PM

It would be handy if we could have an update to the thread from Iain thats lists the turbo options with the required mods to the rest of the systems to produce what power/torque and at what useable rpm range. It's all got a bit lost in the thread.

So for example

2.0L STi LM*** Torque @ **** rpm BHP @ ****rpm, Sugested shift point @ ****rpm, No other engine mods ....

Good result :thumb:

What spec are you running ?

just looked in your garage , has JGM always mapped your car ?

LitchfieldImports 15 July 2010 09:27 PM

Really pleased you like it Tony :D amazing engine with razor sharp throttle response!

John, some details on Tony’s JDM STI
2005 2.0litre JDM STI Type-20
LM400-S60 Turbo
Turbo Heatshield
3” Milltek exhaust with 100Cell Sports CAT
3-port boost control solenoid
K&N intake pipe with cold air feeds
Standard turbo intake
Standard topmount intercooler
Walbro fuel pump
800cc Bosch injectors
Super unleaded map using Mega Rom with per gear boost control

Some 4th gear figures for you:
1.65 bar pear boost @ ~3,500rpm with smooth 0.5 bar @~2,600rpm
Peak power of 400-410bhp (334 g/s) @ 6,600-7,000rpm @ 1.47bar

I would suggest aiming to shift at 7,000rpm as by the time you have gone to changed gear you’ll be at 7,500rpm. Makes for a really big, useable powerband.
Ignition is conservative and fuelling is set a touch rich out of sympathy for Tony’s trackday heroics ;)

Great figures Mel and Simon :D
(Mel’s spec is similar but he has the larger LM450-S60 turbo, intake hose and hybrid front mount)

We’re going to run the LM500-S60 soon on a special 2.1 engine we are building ;)

Regards

Iain

Cheers guys to say im pleased is an understatement!!!:D

Tony, I know exactly how you feeling mate, i couldn't say out of the car the first few days either but then had too as it was getting expensive to keep filling up on vpower once a day lol.

Dan,

My Spec is as follows,

SimTek Ecu with LC and ALS (Mapped by JGM) with Twin Maps (High / Low Boost)
Litchfields Twin Scroll Turbo LM450-S60 (76mm version)
Litchfields 800cc Injectors
3" Milltek 100 cell Cat Full Exhaust System
Hybrid HDi FMIC
Sard FRP (soon to be replaced with a Fuel labs)
Perrin 3 Port Boost Solenoid
SFS 3" Turbo Intake
Walbro Fuel Pump
HKS Blow Off Valve
ACT Heavy Duty Clutch (rated for 515lb/ft)
ACT Lightened Flywheel (6.7kgs)
K&N CAI Kit Mounted inside front wing

Internals are standard for now but will be going for a 2.1 conversion soon.
But so far so good, mind you i always treat the engine properly, always warmed up and cooled down and hardly drive it on full boost to be honest.
Most times it just stays in the low boost map as its plenty fast enough just like that (prob around the 380ish bhp mark), but at a flick of a switch its all :D:D.

Thanks Iain, it was a bit of a surprise to be honest as was only trying to sort out a fueling issue, so to see that figure and in 21c ambient temps was ace.

Ricky, dont worry bud next week you can check it out properly ;) (you are still coming to the cafe i hope?)

Anyway gents here are the graphs from today

your more than welcome to try it, and use your BUM dyno which is far more accurate than a BAR graph :p

IMHO

WHOOPS there goes another tank ful :D:D Its very early days yet but the car is fantastic ;)

2005 2.0litre JDM STI Type-20
LM400-S60 Turbo
Turbo Heatshield
3” Milltek exhaust with 100Cell Sports CAT
3-port boost control solenoid
K&N intake pipe with cold air feeds

Peak power of 400-410bhp (334 g/s) @ 6,600-7,000rpm @ 1.47bar

Although i noticed my old turb was probably 200-300rpm earlier but the hit then is massive compared to my old one.

I don't know If I'm liking the Induction kit, that may have to go in a few weeks, I might get Iain to try it with the OEM airbox re-fitted and take the performance hit ;)

Any improvement with Torque?

Andrew:)

juggers 17 July 2010 03:24 PM

Torque figure is in the first graph and looks like 420ltb. Has anyone had this done to a spec c? can only imagine what it's like 120kg lighter.

LitchfieldImports 17 July 2010 04:36 PM

Andrew, the LM400 at 1.6 bar will give around 400lbft :)

Andrew

I asked Iain has put initially a very conservative Map in my Car.

We are both at Glouster Airfield event next weekend and he will be putting the Final touches to the map then  I promised Iain not to go anywhere near a Rolling Road till after then ;)

Hopefully then I can give you all some proper info but it WILL be good, trust me ;)

MY06 Spec C is only 70kg lighter, MY05 Spec C is only 90kg lighter juggers.

Thanks for taking the time out to meet up today Tony, it was very interesting. :D

I've sent you some info via PM.

That's not the reading i've had on the de-regs when bringing cars over from JP and when they weigh them for the sva test they were bob on can't remember what the actual weight was ,but i remember them being 100kg lighter then the STI's. :)

You best have a word with Subaru then, as those figures are off the sales brochures. :D

Rob,

No Graphs yet going to wait till after ;) basically the turbo will "Free up" a bit after some use, feels much better 3 days but noti it's bit more laggy at the moment ;) Iains doing final checks and tweak at Glouster :luvlove:

This is MY Numpty version from my Bum Dyno, so maybe not "Technically" correct ;) Iain will probably give me a good slap for this p1ss poor attempt at remembering what he said :p

There is not quite enough Torque yet, I believe the torque is made in the 1500-3000rpm range of the map, I assume this Iain will concentrate his efforts on.:norty: because there is absolutely nowt wrong after 3,200 to 7,000+rpm the Horsepower is Frigging awesome :luxhello: a bet nearer 425+bhp

I do want my motor to last :D so asked Iain not to wring out it's neck for max power

So Iain might do an optimum map to give you power freaks the Turbo's Potential  Then put back in my more modest map to finnish me off :lol1:

I don't mind if he cuts it down for me 400bhp but gets another 30-40 lbs of low down torque.

IMHO IIRC

that's not true, the MY05 Spec C was 70 kg's lighter. The MY03-04 was 90kgs lighter. Link to MY05 Spec C brochure from STI Japan... http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/e/GRN/bulletins/040902.pdf

Sorry if this is petty, it's just 2okgs, but facts is facts.

Thanks also Iain and Tony for the projected torque figures on the LM400:thumb:

I was refering to the weight comparisons of the JDM STi to the JDM STi Spec C (17") in MY05 and MY06, not the comparisons between the MY04 and MY05 homologation models you have linked too. :p:D

I said "MY06 Spec C is only 70kg lighter, MY05 Spec C is only 90kg lighter juggers." :hjtwofing:D

MY05 JDM STi 1460kg
MY05 JDM STi Spec C 1370kg
MY06 JDM STi 1460Kg
MY06 JDM STi Spec C 1390Kg

Facts is facts :razz::D

Shaun 18 July 2010 10:58 PM

Apac,
MY03 Spec C was 1350kgs with electrics and aircon delete (normal road version - not motorsport version). Corresponding MY03 STI was 1450kgs iirc, so a saving of 100kgs, not 90kgs. :) IIRC MY02 RA was 1330kgs, so seems like additional 20kg's per year of bloat revision for the Spec C (assuming MY05 is 1370kgs and MY06 is 1390kgs). :D
