I said "MY06 Spec C is only 70kg lighter, MY05 Spec C is only 90kg lighter juggers." :hjtwofing:D

MY05 JDM STi 1460kg
MY05 JDM STi Spec C 1370kg
MY06 JDM STi 1460Kg
MY06 JDM STi Spec C 1390Kg

Facts is facts :razz::D

Facts is Facts.
the MY2005 Spec C was the first year it was offically used for homologation, earlier Spec C's were not.

JDM STI 03 - 05 = 1440kg's which makes the 05 Speccie 70kgs lighter. read it on the link on my earlier post, that was my point.

As for earlier models...

03-05 JDM = 1440kg
03-04 Spec C (16" 'real competition') = 1320kg with steel wheels crap barkes and crap interior.
03-04 Spec C (17" with no creature comforts) = 1350kgs
03-04 Spec C 'LIMITED' with electric windows/mirrors and small air con unit = 1370kg's

As for the Hawkeye onwards i can not be accurate, but the later the model the heavier they get.

The 'original' real RA's.......

Version 1 WRX type RA weighed in at an amazing 1170kg, 30kgs lighter than the standard WRX.
Th First STI Type RA (version 2 MY94-95) was 1200kgs. the car was 275/235 power wise and was the first car to receive a DCCD :thumb:

Sorry if all this is a bit pedantic within the thread but this book has all the official brochures and official specifications printed within.

There's not any 'web wisdom' or chinese whispers in it. Just cold facts from Subaru specification sheets n brochures

Would the LM500 make a good turbo for a 2.35 engine?

Cant wait for the LM500 having enjoyed the LM400 for 3 months :)

Am still enjoying my 420 on my MY05 STi too .. although not quite at that BHP level as no CAI or FMIC .. but a good 400 says the bum dyno given the re-tune improvements .. just so much fun mid range and especially at the top end compared to the std turbo .. and no massive 'on off' feel to the turbo ... balance is just right imo

Not total enough Andrew!

The MY05 JDM STi was homologated on 1 Nov 2004 (homologation number 5676), the Spec C WR Limited was homologated as an extension to this car on 1 Jan 2005 (homologation number 5676 VP01/01)

The car your link refers to is NOT the MY05 JDM STi ((homologation number 5676), it is refering to the MY04 JDM STi ( homologation number 5656), the link is talking about the improvements made to the previous homologated version of the car, the new Homologation it is promoting is based on the initial homologation process for the MY05 with the aditional extension options on top. Read your link again and look at the homologation reference used in the document, i'll quote it for you. "Main improvements in 2005 model(WRX STi spec C) (In comparison with 2004 Group N Homologated Car <A/N5656>)"

You dont seem to understand that the MY03/MY04 JDM STi is a different car to the MY05 JDM STi. The MY05 JDM STi is still a blobeye, but has the larger PCD Hubs, larger wheels and wider track also found on the Hawkeye, which adds an extra 20Kg.

MY03/MY04 JDM STi 1440kg
MY05 JDM STi 1460kg
MY06 JDM STi 1460kg

Wait till you see me having a geek off with the other race engineers i work with when we discuss the various cars we take care of, it's pretty funny stuff at times. :D

Best we get back to Turbo's now i think!

DanT20 31 July 2010 07:16 PM

can we get back to discussing the turbo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

juggers 31 July 2010 08:52 PM

Not much to discuss it's a no brainer i should be ordering one of these for myself and i have been advising my customers to go down this route to. I need to order one as soon as.

Immy

RA Dunk 01 August 2010 09:25 AM

Any word on Litchfield doing a Billet release of these?

Shaun 01 August 2010 09:36 AM

Best to give Iain a call to discuss. Last time I was up at Litchfield's I know they were looking in to it.

Shaun 01 August 2010 09:13 PM

I discussed these turbos at length with Richard Bulmer (Tracktive Solutions) today, whilst I was at Cadwell Park. Richard has mapped a few of these now and he said he has been very impressed. Richard said that the LM400 was THE road car turbo to have at the moment. He is very impressed with the spool, as he said it was as good as an OE twinscroll VF if not slightly better and the LM400 pulls so much better at the top end (way past the OE turbo). IIRC this was on ECUTEK using the MEGAROM code.

Richard mapped one a couple of weeks back and the car only had a panel filter and decat. He had no problems mapping it with these limited mods, but did say he managed to max out the OE injectors so had to curb held boost at peak power to 1.4bar. In reality this is still a good wedge of boost and he said peak figures were circa 390bhp. He was very impressed with this turbo.

I have a feeling I am going to be putting this turbo on my new JDM Hawkeye, as based on feedback from people I trust (including Litchfields, but it is always good to hear feedback from other companies who have no direct relationship) it sounds like this turbo will deliver EXACTLY what I want for an outstanding road car. As good as OE spool and much better mid and high range punch, but enabling me to keep everything else OE. Richard did say it certainly needs the MEGAROM to get the best out of the available driveability.

I will see how I get on with the Hawkeye as it is first, so I can gain a better appreciation.

StanS 01 August 2010 10:07 PM

So what are the differences between the Megarom and Racerom codes/software (?) ?
Anyone know ? Is it to do with the power levels they can map to ?

Shaun 01 August 2010 10:09 PM

Nothing to do with power in reality, but everything to do with the extra toys available.

When he said a while, he meant about 3 hours!

johnny_0 02 August 2010 10:05 AM

Hello,

In the next week i will fit my LM450 on my RA. My tuner said me that he can map the stock ecu or upgrade it with an LINK ecu with MAP sensor; Of course in his opinion the Link ecu is better than stock, because the car will have a better response, etc.

Really for my stage (LM450 turbo+injectors) i'd stay with stock ecu.

What iare your opinions? Really a great difference between a ecu with MAP (Link) and the stock ecu with MAF?

thks

Carlo

Just had a very interesting conversation this morning with Mr Litchfield. Some very exciting advancements/announcements should be happening over the coming weeks....... I feel the need to produce a new "Project Thread"! ;)

Pete,
I will leave it standard.... for a few weeks! ;) In any case, looking at this level of modification I don't really see it as "modifying" really. Well... not compared to what I have done previously. :D

Shaun 02 August 2010 08:37 PM

Christ I'm not going down the route of having an engine built. Lol

It's only regarding boring turbos. More info as soon as I have the nod from Iain.
