52mm guage pod came today so popped down to try it ,then set to on the rear loom finally got it in reasonabley neat and tidy so i can now see the pedals without getting tangled up in all the wiring loom !!!

I then removed the rear bulkhead to try and fit the last fuel line connections to the fuel tank but found out the connections i had bought were to small so back to the drawing board !

I then switched on the ignition and the beast growled ...well the lights came on to test a few circuits but getting there.

Simtek ECU?

I'm trying to get my head around how i would go about removing my imobiliser, but it's wired into the ECU i believe. If i got a Simtek ECU i think this would bypass it and then i could remove the system from the car, get rid of all that awful wiring lol.

Why's/does the button start need to go through a relay?

Thanks

leecalcars 01 January 2012 02:21 PM

Hi Sam I am running a simtek ecu and I put the start button on a relay so as not to switch on full load over 300A DC , just a safety precaution really .

Finally got round to fitting the plumbed in extinguisher today another job off the list,I had to trim down one of the pull cords so as to not have to much excess behind the dash.
I just need to purchase another cable nipple from the local bike shop only cost a quid to finish it off just a couple of clips on the tube under the seat.

Been down the garage all day today trying to solve a wiring problem but il continue with it on monday .

I needed somewhere to mount the hazard switch etc so decided to make a panel out of real carbon fibre and mount it under the dash on the right hand side of the steering wheel .

leecalcars 17 January 2012 08:00 AM

I was having a problem with trying to get the dash lights up and working but finally sussed it out , after initially removing fuses 18 and 19 this was causing the problem put them back in and all working fine

leecalcars 17 January 2012 07:33 PM

Torques sent me the new push on to AN-6 male connector and 180 deg i needed to complete my fuel setup

leecalcars 18 January 2012 06:27 PM

As the fuel setup is now complete thought i would make a better cover for these as the pictures show ,just found some light weight checker plate.

Cracking Car :)
I still havent fitted those door cards lol

leecalcars 18 January 2012 09:11 PM

Be even better when i hear it running steve !
Been a while now but good things will come to those that wait so they say.lol

I originally went with the white ones(door cards) but decided on the black fit really good and light weight too !

leecalcars 21 January 2012 06:08 PM

Well the 4 weeks or so ive had off from work iv'e got alot of the small jobs wiped up.

Today was cutting the aluminium rear bulkhead as the plastic one i had originally cut was to flimsy so found some light weight checker plate and went at it.
I used aluminium bolts very lightweight and strong too.

As i start a new contract on monday working 10hrs work will drop off on the car to gather more funds for completion .
The list for completion is only slight now
1. Helix clutch and lightened flywheel
2. Fuel lab fpr
3. injectors from lateral
4. Rear lateral arms
5. remap

Then full geometry set up ready for testing at blyton over the next few months.
I never anticipated the full expense and how many jobs there was to do but enjoyed it all and look forward to spending some good days out on track with the lads this spring/summer.

7/16 UNC harness eye bolt plates came today sometging i had over looked but going down on saturday to weld these in ,i have X6 to do two eitherside of drivers seat and x4 for passenger harness.

Im Going to drill a 20mm hole into sill so the nut fits inside the hole making the plat sit flush to weld to the sill .

x6 in total
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...eboltplate.jpg

leecalcars 02 March 2012 06:57 PM

Firstly i marked the position of the harness loops in the side of the seat and drilled a 32mm hole for the nut on the back of the plate to recess into .

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...rs/plate-1.jpg

Then with a grinder i removed all the paint ready for welding in place with a mig set.

awesome build mate, is that a three port catch can?
where did you get that one from?

Are the 2 lines running from the front a feed and return feed? The return dropping fuel back into the swirl pot and the other line takes fuel from the swirl pot through the pump/filter and then to the front where it goes through the OEM filter to the injectors?

The 2 other lines that go to and from the tank, what are these connected to, the other fuel pump? I'm guessing one pulls the fuel into the swirl pot but what does the other do, an overflow back to the tank?

Have you blanked a connector in the engine bay as there use to be 3 lines coming from the front?

Thanks

No mate the oem system has 3 lines i have only 2 feed and return as i have used a parrallel setup il post a drawing easily explained on that.
