Jesus guys, hope you get better.
I work away now, and have just read this after reading Steve's email.
Hope you both make a full recovery, and hope to see you both driving Scoobs again in the near future.

I'll see you at a meet once I get the car fixed.

Yet again, get well, the scoob community needs you both.

Muddy.

WRXBOB 23 November 2002 10:14 PM

Thanks for all the replies guy's...
Its gonna be a long time before Steve and myself are back to normal, but at least we're alive!!!!
Its still very painfull, the medication helps a bit but I'm not gonna be back at work untill sometime in the new year.
Don't know when I'll be driving the scoob again, don't just mean physically, I'm talking psychologically, the thought of it just now sares the **** outta me, hopefully time will be a good healer.
How my chest looked after about a week:

Hi Bob,

Glad to see yer on the mend.

Some rare looking colours there mate, looks abit sore, did the belt do that or the seat?

Makes you think abit when this happens to someone you know, keep ya chin up and see you in the scoob soon.

Take care out there.

Paul

WRXBOB 23 November 2002 11:51 PM

Yeah, basically the seatbelt caused my injuries, but it saved my life!
I'm covered in bruises/tissue and nerve damage/ and internal bruising all where the seatblet was in contact with me. Plus the bruising down the centre of my chest is where the breast bone has broken. What I found amazing was the hospital's reaction to my broken ribs . . . "yeah you've broken a few ribs" and that was it!!! Broken ribs aren't life threatening unless they're sticking into your lungs etc, so they normally just leave them alone!

Thanks

Bob
(the thing is, I cant drink alcohol with taking the strong painkillers . . . not had a drink in nearly 2 weeks and the doctor told me I'd be on them for at least 2 more weeks! I'm going mad!)

WRXBOB 11 December 2002 03:17 PM

this is bobs mate using his pc to post up for him
his got a broken sternum{chest bone}broken ribs whiplash to his neck and very bad internal bruising to most organs and is covered in bruises on his body
the worrying bit is that his heart took a severe battering and bruising and his wired up to the machines to monitor his heart
he got trouble with breathin and so cant talk much and
the docs say his going to be off work a couple of months at least
seen steve emery and having heard what happened they are lucky to be alive
the airbags helped the driver and front passenger but bob was in the back so took all the force on seatbelt thru his chest
if he hadnt had seatbelt on he would be dead now

get well soon bob and you to steve emery

cant say the same to the wacko driver

and thanks for offer of help with bobs car but i moved it for him monday

Hi bob, how are you doing?
i've still got the pics somewhere of the car in the ditch.

Kevin

:)

4X4BOB 05 January 2009 06:09 PM

Hiya Kev,

Now I know a few Kevs, but I'm guessing its Kevin S**n**n?

How ya doing fella?

Last I remember from you, you and a few others were buying out your old company. Did it go to plan?

I've had some ups and downs, but on the whole life is good.
A met a new women while convalesing (SP?) , ended up marrying her in America in 2004.
Business been up and down, but can't complain.

I've been looking for the old pics, but can't find them. Think they're on an old hdd.

Not sure I want to see them again though - bad memories!!!

Bob

4X4BOB 05 January 2009 06:16 PM

Just "Viewed your scooby" . . . . I was right, it is you!

You still got it then! Mine went during a period of depression/pdso after the accident. Miss it now :(

dogpole 05 January 2009 06:23 PM

Bob,

yes mate, we bought the old company out and were still going, i can see some tough times ahead thou'. Still got the old green scoob, it doesn't owe me anything and it keeps on going, so i can't see the point of selling it and having to take a loan to get something else.

I'm now married with 2 kids !!

You heard from Mr Emery recently?

:)

4X4BOB 05 January 2009 06:44 PM

Kev married with 2 kids :wonder: hmmmmm it can't be the same guy, can it???

I met up with Steve a few times, went over to their place near Penrith and got wrecked on the local brewery's grog. Had a few emails from him, but nothing for a while now.
He was never the best at replying to mail, I often got 1/2 an email from him!!!

Its good that your business is still going, to pick it up from where it was and keep it going this long means you've been doing something right!
Any jobs going?
I'm soooo very p!ssed off at present, partly with being my own boss. Want to get my hands dirty with some proper work.

I know what you mean about keeping the car. If it doesn't owe you anything then why get rid?
Selling mine cost me dearly, it stood me at circa £25k and I sold it for £15k as I wanted to get rid. Not been back to a scoob, prefer my 4x4's as I don't have to worry about bouncing up kerbs. Plus I was spending £200 + per week in fuel, not to mention the close calls I had with the Police when I overtook them at over 120mph

Happy New Year Kev and family!

Bob
