We have screwed minitrunking to our skirting boards just above the carpet all the way round the lounge and also put a channel in the floor across the archway.

We have got in one part of the trunking, 1 large OFC speaker cable,TV phono cable and a silicon SVHS cable as my stereo gear and DVD is at the other end of the room and you have to look hard to see it, i have run the OFC cable up the leg of my speaker stand and taped it so you can't see it, ! if I new how to put a picture on the board i would show you what it looks like.

Ps. Logiclee with all that good gear in your house you could at least put a good type of PIR on the wall http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif God i must switch off when i get home from work!

I payed 400 for mine too - down from 850!

The 620 was more expensive. I couldn't work out what the 620 did over the 1000 so I went for the RX1000. Listening to Gladiator with a rear centre was awesome. I hadn't thought that 6.1 would have been so much of an improvement over 5.1 decoding.

Now all I need to do is buy a rear centre...

Any other films got DTS-ES encoding?

I've assumed you can run the wires down inside the hollow legs, but can't see anywhere where it's mentioned.

How do you hide your wires?[/quote]

Hi Neil,

I have almost the exact same stand (though for some reason the glass supports are square - guess this is because I bought it last year). The thing weighs a ton and comes in just one piece for obvious reasons so be prepared when you pick it up, and get it delivered if possible. I'm well happy with the stand over a year down the line - looks great in the living room.

You can't route wires down the legs. Just use some of the plastic spiral-wire stuff to keep all the cables together. We use this also at work to keep the back of desks tidy. By the time you get to the amp the 'loom' is a good couple of inches thick!! An alternative already stated is to sellotape to the legs but I'd be worried about messing up the finish on the stand.

Hope this helps
Joolz

PS. Go for the marble effect glass if it's still available. Dust doesn't show as much. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Huxley,

It's an old pic mate. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif My alarm panel died a couple of months ago so I took the opportunity to have a full system installed.
The PIR in the pic was a B&Q special. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL.

Interested in all the above as no other colleague/friend will talk to me on these issues!

Have a 40" Tosh rear projection - absolutely brilliant, and don't let any crappy bright showroom put you off! Crap sound, but that'ws not an issue as I have a Sony Dolby Digital dec/amp. Yes the learning remote for this will not learn or drive the Pace Digi Cable box like all of you...

This box/system is the weak link in the whole system - I got it since you can get proper anamorphic 16:9 pix to fill up the widescreen. Trouble is the bitrate is so low the pictures are often blocky and pixellated when high data rates are required - err, rendering the sky for example, or even just a simple fade to black.

Have got Cable London out so many times I can now do the diagnostics and check S/N & signal level myself. All seem to be within spec, but just try watching the David Attenborough sea prog - the screen wide subtle changes in blue colour and shading required cause the images to be worse than a crappy e-mail JPEG. It is so weak and over compressed.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions - does Sky Digital have a higher definition maybe???

Thanks

D

PS if you spend less than $200 on half a metre of cable you are saving money in the wrong area! Yeah right, what balloney!!!!

D,

Watching Blue Planet through a Pace digibox with Sky digital on my 41" Sony and its awesome. Never had any problems with it. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Had NTL TV taken out due to picture problems showing up on the large screens, after many enginners calling their top technical guy admitted they check picture quality on a 14" screen http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif , average screen size of customers is 25" to 28" so they have few complaints. Free internets good though. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Thank you for confirming what I thought - NTL is designed for TV screens no bigger than yer microwave!

I shall be phoning SKY for a trial when I get back - does SKY dig also give you a proper anamorphic pic source option (tall thin people in the image), that the widescreen TV will 'unsquash' and make look damn mighty fine!?

Thanks for your advice, and I'm actually going to publish in a trade paper on this NTL issue since I am appalled they willingly destroy the huge efforts (and costs) prog makers go to to get the best poss pics to the viewer...

Alternatively you could all pay me to install your systems properley and I could then get a new M3 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Hiding wires and installing AV/Multiroom audio is my bag. In fact I spend all day, everyday up to my neck in it so it's highly unlikely that I ain't seen it or done it before at some stage http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Anyone who wants a bit of specific advice, feel free to mail me, I won't charge....promise http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Well not unless you make come round and do it for ya http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Cheers

How much do you charge?

Diesel 13 October 2001 09:20 AM

Huge apologies to Luke for continuing this ridiculously non Scoob thread here - maybe the content clue was clear in the subject title???

Steve - do you know if the pic spec is better for Sky than Digi Cable (telewest). Thanks.

I was just having a laugh !!

Luke, what's your favourite make of battery for say a CD player's remote control. If you're not sure, go by colour ;)

Saw Sky today on a mid size Plazma screen and it had the same old ****e pixellated pic qual as my digi cable. Ohh dear.
