NR never offered attractive rates. The offered bigger income multiples for 5 years fixed rates on 100 or 120% borrowing. They offered self cert and they offered slightly sub prime. Any half decent broker will beat NR rates 6 months after you take out the NR mortgage, even if you add the redemption penalty. If you are 'sub-prime' virtually no-one will touch you at less than 9% now. For everyone else, property price increases ensure that you are no longer borrowing 100%, so they have more security and less risk. In the last 5 years, I have only ever recommended an NR mortgage when there is no mainstream alternative. The differential is usually about 1.2%, or £100.00 per month on a 100k mortgage.

BTW - Devildog is correct in all the posts above. There seem to be a few other people who are happy to dispense advice with no knowledge other than the rantings of the daily mail

The reason that you don't see these ads is that the FSA have a set of advertising guidelines which say you cant guarantee anything other than death. If you say something they don't appreciate, they take away your authorisaton and you can't play any more

You rather missed my point. OK so you just use some weasel words to get around the FSA rules "Worried about your NR mortgage? Come and talk to us. Or Freephone blah blah".

My point being that why aren't other banks taking advantage and cherry picking? dl
