You need to control the airflow into the engine, that is what the Mass Air Flow sensor does, you can buy ecu's that do things slightly different but they are quite pricey (1.6-2k)
The outcome of having a naffed maf sensor and doing nothing for the (less than) 100 quid they cost inc vat is a 2.5-3k engine rebuild, so really its up to you ;) its far cheaper just to buy a new maf sensor and fit it. Tony:) Simon |

No, I knew that's what you meant by your post, Simon :) (I shouldn't have used the 'big grin' smiley and '!') .... Just mentioned it by name in case it was lost on members not in the know. :thumb:

not necessary for this problem as it clearly sounds like a failed maf.. but non-maf ecu's are only 1k not 1.6~2k :)

why do people think this is the way to confirm maf fail!! a failing maf can still give voltage or be stuck on one value so car would cut out if maf disconnected but maf still faulty!! as the car in question is a my00 it has an odb port and can
have the maf voltages read via data monitor to confirm weather maf needs replacing or not!! |
Right o lol well i'll put it to rest tom night as i'll be getting it and fitting it, Who is running a book on it working.Has anyone any special ways to insert the new one without stuffing it hummm???

Pop in if you wish and we'll confirm that all is OK after the re-maf. remains in the background until deleted properly by the select monitor. No matter how many times you do a battery style reset. No obligation, no cost, unless you ask us to do something else. David APi |
