Yeah theres loads on here that are local to Wakey that will love to sample some fine fish and chips.

Don't get the wrong idea mate... we'll still be invading your gaff :)

Sticky Stuff 02 June 2009 09:11 PM

Lol, I'm Paul and Debbie's local though they never come in, they must go to Mahals! We aren't to everyones tastes though as we use dripping!

People either mention the Kingfisher, Wetherby Whaler or Barracuda when talking about their fave chippys in Wakefield.

Must admit I have been to Kingfisher myself a few times, cant pass without grabbing a fish butty there top stuff, and fellow Quality Award Holders.

We use beef dripping too, the only way to properly cook fish and Chips if you ask me.

So which one are you then mate? Are you NFFF members? Im a training course tutor there.

Not heard of Barracuda, but I use George-a-green. all the time now. Great owners with great banter (really nice to walk in to any shop where they know your name after a few visits and you just chat like mates....) and the F&C are excellent. They also won an award for 'best shop in bloom'.. they like their flowers. :)

I'm not really a fan of the Wetherby Whaler.... has the totally opposite feel to the George-a-green as does Kingfisher. I prefer something a little more quiet, understated and less 'commercial' if you know what I mean.

Where are you Matt?

Sunny Ryhill, we don't ever go to Shaheens as they have upset a hell of a lot of people in the village. I once spoke to the Police about an issue and they said there was a report list a mile long. Nothing to do with the food mind, they have a good rep.

How long you had the plaice (geddit? :))

Used to go there quite a bit until I moved out of Ryhovercraft last Septober.

Lovely fish :thumb:

Sticky Stuff 03 June 2009 06:35 PM

Matt... Went past at 4:30 and again at 4:45 this aft, think you were just in the process of opening up. Would have stopped for a fish on the way back, but my wallet was in the bleeding van :(

And you have the cheek to question my IQ?

That mate is 9 on the Dim scale.
The scale only has 5, so I think you've got a win there chap... :thumb:

Sticky Stuff 03 June 2009 07:17 PM

Nothing to do with the fact that there's bugger all in the wallet anyway :)

And there's a difference between forgetfulness (guilty as charged) and being a thick, ugly, innumerate Brummie :p (Not that I know any of those)

Muchos Lovus

Alan C 03 June 2009 07:25 PM

I've missed this banter you lanky streak of gorgeousness.....

Sticky Stuff 04 June 2009 06:50 AM

...and you'd know gorgeousness as being the antithesis of everything that your lovely wife tells you about yourself...

(To save you using vital Google resources, that means yer still ugly)

Me miss takey-mick too :)

Sticky Stuff 04 June 2009 06:51 AM

...but we digress...

Is this happening on Friday?

Furry Triangle for 6? Over to RAF's for a special at 6:30?
Then Fish & Chips @ 6:31 (Cos I've heard stories about your performance.......)

Dave? You showed interest....

Sticky Stuff 04 June 2009 07:46 AM

Sounds good (apart from the fact that you're going too)

I'll confirm times when the nurse gets home (Could be either Tracy or my carer, depends who gets here first so don't hog the carer for too long, she has other appointments you know)

Sorry, but even in my oil burner a 640 mile round trip for fish'n'chips is too much :freak3: Burning to a crisp in Cornwall right now

Enjoy guys :thumb:

Just look at you 2 banging on Mr Forgetfulness with an annoying albeit strangely infectious midland impediment, a wealth and a full lifetime of experience that out way his physical years albeit not his physical face, and Mr Longman with an arguably chiselled jaw line, his thorough and meticulous dissection of threads and the written word that can only be compared to i’spell or maybe that anal English teacher at school who was ever so slightly annoying.

Anyway I digress just go get some fish and chips and sort the rest out in the car park, if you need me to ajudicate start you thread, Dear Stud

:D

Nice try, but none of the above.

STi8 with white wheels.

Sticky Stuff 04 June 2009 05:28 PM

Cough. Who chucked you a buttie?

I'll have you know they're pretty clean at the moment

...ish

Alan C 04 June 2009 08:01 PM

Sticky... My car's in the garage Saturday morning (blown door actuator.. all doors apart from drivers deadlocked shut... long story... won't bother you with the details...)

Means I'll be going over in the Pug.. Probably better if we see you there at 6:30?rather than you trying to keep up with me in the 1.2?

But who's to say we're not gonna be in the 698cc monster?

Alan C 05 June 2009 09:34 PM

Raf.... Thank you for your generosity and welcome. It was great to see you again mate and you have a lovely place there. :thumb:

Regardless of us knowing you, that was one of the best F&C meals we've had for a very long time, without a doubt a top 3 fish cooked to perfection and you justly deserve the award.

We'll definitely be back and I heartily recommend everyone take a trip over or stop off if you're passing through Farsley... :luxhello:

Look forward to see you in a week for a quick spin.... :thumb:

Our local fish shop and the best around...:luxhello::luxhello:

Could of called in Alan for a cuppa mate... only up road from Raf's..

:thumb:

Sticky Stuff 06 June 2009 08:36 AM

We didn't make it. :(

Excuses (in no particular order)

Been working solidly since 6am
Phone bust
Didn't finish work until 5pm
Got home and was presented with a fantastic pressie in the shape of a shiny new iPhone, which of course I had to play with, set up, drool over, go "wow" several times, etc, etc.

We will get over soon Raf.

Al, sorry I missed your calls & texts. I'm not dead so you can't have the PS3 or the iPhone, and as for the other thing we were negotiating over... After careful consideration, and a fantastically well recieved acceptance of my gratitude last night, it ain't for sale. EVER! ;)
