As LJF says, he knew the engine was knackered. See post 11 of this thread https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ly-person.html.

Do you have any written proof that he represented the engine as working/rebuilt? If so, I believe you have enough to go to the police and ask them to prosecute him for fraud (specifically false pretences - ie. he knowingly made false representations with the intention of fraudulently obtaining property). May be worth talking to him first to see if this changes his mind about giving you a refund.

That sucks mate, life is hard enough owning a scubby without having people rip you off. I wouldn't let it lye. But you have to remember this is a public forum. Watch what you are saying.

What colour was Tom tha tits scoob mate?

pslewis 12 July 2010 10:40 PM

The evidence that the engine was knackered - in writing, on these pages.

But, personally, I would gather some mates and get my money back - I couldn't rest until closure on this .... really, I wouldn't sleep until I had satisfaction one way or another.

got 17 text messages, the rebuild receipt and one knackered engine

QUICKSCOOB 12 July 2010 10:46 PM

Small claims at county court.I,ve done this over loan not paid back to me.It would be sweet for you to watch him in court.Cost would not be high for you and maybe could take some SN support with you.GOOD LUCK

pslewis 12 July 2010 10:49 PM

You would have to attend court in PT - and then he may simply not pay the award in any case ....................... a knock on the door with 100 stone of 5 men ensures a positive outcome.

L.J.F 12 July 2010 10:49 PM

whats his number?

deepy 12 July 2010 10:52 PM

If you decide to go the small claims route its a fairly easy process online:

Is this Dude completely stupid!
How the hell did he expect to get away with it??
I would normally say in this situation that there must be a misunderstanding, but coupled with the
https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ly-person.html
Thread, It seems very clear what he has done!
This lad needs to know that there is a whole community of lads, that knows where he lives, and what he drives and we do not appreciate someone ripping off one of us!
He should be encouraged to come on and at least read this thread!
If he still doesn't refund you, then he is one dumb sh1t

Hope it works out for you man!
Dan

Hopefully it will get sorted one way or another,I bet the receipt he has sent you is for the new engine he has just bought. I recently sold an ecu to a guy in Czech republic(£300) he paid the money direct into my bank account. Now I know he ain't going to get on the next plane if I don't send it, but I would never consider ripping him off as he was good enough to trust me.
This bloke took your money - did he think u would not notice the engine was knackered,he has wasted your time, petrol, & money and for that he deserves everything he gets - all bad , W****r

markjmd 13 July 2010 12:51 AM

Interesting post at the bottom of this thread around a week ago, where tomtit was apparently offering his engine for sale to another unsuspecting buyer, again with no hint that he knew it to be knackered.

It beggars belief he actually thought he could get away with this :cuckoo:

cant imagine why :wonder::wonder:

hope you get it sorted:(

stedee 13 July 2010 01:00 AM

definately needs a beating

Paulo P 13 July 2010 01:02 AM

As ever it's a new user with no posts that has caused the problem :( I feel your pain but I must express the fact that users should not buy from users with a low post count. I hope you find a way of sorting it out.

oadamo 13 July 2010 01:34 AM

shame i have a good engine out of a front ended car you could of had for 500 complete with everything expect a few pipes.
adam

Butty 13 July 2010 07:38 AM

Not a hint of trouble with the engine when he first offered it to you:

https://www.scoobynet.com/showpost.p...31&postcount=6

He appears to have removed a failed engine back in mid June (questions about installation/ gearbox removal & coolant refilling) and replaced it with a working one.
The failed engine is then sold (to you) as being the good engine with a receipt to show it is a £2800 rebuild - very devious.

The Trooper 1815 13 July 2010 08:24 AM

He's never posted in the "WALES" section :Suspiciou
