We tend to wave round here and in the main you will get a wave back :thumb:
most of the time you dont get wave back is if they have not clocked you, of which I am sometimes guilty:Whatever_ sometimes a very very late wave lol if they dont wave back no harm done and if they cant be bothered to have a wave and smile about it then think its their loss not mine its just an acknowledgement to someone with the same taste in cars as yourself and a bit of fun :) |
Get a reasonable amount of waves round here, but as many drive past there is a look of disappointment on their face as they realise that they have just waved at an hatch. :lol1:.
|
I wave at everyone, classics and new, but sadly its a dying fad now. Got more in my classic than I do now in the blobeye, now people just look at me like im a plum or something. In fact, nobody ever even see's me these days :(
|
Take it all back! Today has restored my faith in the likeminded Scooby enthusiasts mutual acknowledgment!! (a wave, smile, nod in your direction). On the way to and from the Rhyl Airshow, which was decent by the way, we saw a total of 8 Scoobies with all waving except the middle aged b1tch in the green wagon who obviously didn't know the full extent of what she was driving!!
Faith restored, happy days G&G |
Always get a wave from scoobs around Ipswich/Colchester, unless it's a female driver, they never seem to be paying attention for some reason or they just don't care.

There is absolutely no reason why a woman shouldn't want to drive a fast car but experience tells me that Imprezas are generally appreciated (and therefore owned) more by men than women. |
I occasionally get waves but so far always from other classics, newer scoob owners tend to give me filthy looks for some reason, lol, :freak3:, although i admit that i have missed a few that have waved as im usually driving with my mind away with the fairies and by the time i realise its too late!.
When i had my e34 535 sport on the road though every other e34 i ever saw waved which i thought was cool in a nerdy way:thumb:. |
Think there are a lot of middle age crisis owners who can now afford the car they dreamed of in their twneties. They want the fun but don't appreciate the social network within the subaru community.

Some people just ain't got the passion :-( |
Always do what is right I say, WAVE, MAKE SOME GESTURE of acknowledgement even if it is not reciprocated.
Probably 90% of ppl respond back round these parts of the North West, but then again we are a friendly bunch! |

In my twenties I had the XR2i which I had dreamed of :thumb: great little cars in their time :) I love the Scooby community but accept that some people just want the car:thumb: |
I am 43 and have had my Scooby from new in 2002 and I wave if possible.
|
I'm 25 and I wave. Had my scooby for 5 years :lol1:
|
has my scooby since may, and still not had a wave :(
I've waved/flashed at a few, but got nothing in return ..... my partner thinks I'm nutts when hes driving and I shout.. 'quick scooby.. flash the lights!' |
The funny thing happened to me last month i flashed at a classic scooby, and he went round the roundabout and came right behind me and started flashing, then got to the lights and started going off in one, saying what the effing do you want lol, i started laughing saying are you off your nut mate, was just seeing another scoob saying hello, bascially told him to grow up and do one, i don't generally wave anymore or flash, unless someone does it first and out of courtesy i'll return it
|
same here never had a wave off anyone myself, i waved at one a few days back and got the finger!!
|
I always wave!!
|
Mostly classics wave back, the new un's don't bother.
I've started waving/thumbs up at guys in old Skylines, GTiR's, Evo's, etc. I think they understand what it's all about more than some of the new generation of Subaru drivers :) |
It looks like the friendliness border is North of the Midlands and South of Yorkshire/Lancashire.
I'm really surprised at the reactions some of you (in the South) have had. The worst I've had is mild bafflement but I normally get a positive response regardless of what age of Scooby it is. |

Waved today and got the blank look lol...reckon its more of a south thing..... Blanking ..still the more times they get waved at the quicker it will sink in.. Either that or they will think they have a lot of friends.. :-)
|
I don't wave at hatch drivers.
Most of the hatch drivers round my way think they are someone special, stuck up morons usually have the wrxD too. My car is paid for with hard earned cash and costs more to run a week than they pay a month including fuel and finance. Get a grip wrxD drivers your cars are extremely poo and not what subaru are about at all. |

I always wave,
Think I'm gonna start flicking the V's now, so if you wave/nod and someone in a WR blue sti sticks 2 fingers up to you…. don't bother posting in "was it you" because you now know it was ME.! |
Back in the day (Hovis song now playing in the background), it was the norm to wave to each other. Over the years this has started to go away alot. I put it down to the age of the car, type of driver and if they know the tradition. A few years back and you didnt wave you got outed out on this very said forum :)
Unfortunatley I have a neighbour who owns a Blue Newage Blobeye (A complete Knob), who some how is out of work but can afford to own, insure and drive this car about, and whom I try to ignore as much as posiible due to his behaviour and anti-socialness he exhibited to me and my family in the past. So going back to a point I made about type of driver :( Also there a lot of Polish people who are in the country who buy Cars like this and again may or may not know of the traditional wave :) Going back in time, I managed to buy a brand new Peugeot 206, and remember seeing another 206 on the opposite side of the road who waved at me like a lunatic, back then I hadnt a clue what that was about, until I came into Scooby ownership back in 2001, and joining sites like this :) |
